Trevor Browne and North exploded for 32 combined points in the first quarter alone with TB taking a 22-10 lead out of the first quarter, into the halftime and well into the 4th quarter.
North got the night started off with a bang, taking the opening kickoff to the house. Ade Adeniran gave the Mustangs a 7-0 lead with just 15 seconds off the clock.
TB marched right down and answered with the first of two Darrion Murphy scores. This one was from a few yards out and the succesful two point conversion gave the Bruins a 8-7 lead.
Special teams got North back on the board again. This time a 30 yard Sammy Moreno FG gave them the lead back. 10-8.
But this was the last time North would be ahead. Murphy raced for another score, this one a spectacular 46 yard run down the sideline. This one gave TB a 15-10 lead, one they would never relinquish.
A bad snap lead to North's punt being blocked on their next possesion and Gilberto Lopez's recovery in the endzone built the Bruins lead to 22-10.
The 4th quarter was the next time a the scoreboard would light up as the teams exchanged scores. North made things a little interesting, recovering a fumble and capitalizing with a Jospeh Muniz to Kohner Urias scoring strike. 22-17.
But TB put the game away on a short Cedric Garret score that was et up by a 53 yard Lino Vela run.
Final Trevor Browne 28 North 17
32 points were scored in the first quarter of this game and only 13 more the rest of the way. Both teams stepped up their defensive efforts after the first 12 minutes were over.
Are these two teams that will challenge for a state title? No. But they played a good football game tonight and represented the Metro Region well.
This could go a number of different ways but I am going to have to go with Trevor Browne's offensive line. Didn't matter who carried the ball, Murphy or Garrett, they had success. Murphy had 2 rushing TDs and Garrett had 1.
