Westview v. Millennium

Showdown between two 5A2/Westside powers on Cox 7 Thursday game of the week

Key matchup between two traditional westside powers collided on Cox 7 Thursday night.

Westview struck first. With Jourdan Grandon under center (he has been out most fof the year), the Knights got down and Jordan Champion punched it in from a few yeards out. The drive was kept alive on a nice Grandon to Shayne Miller 1st down pass on 3rd and plus 20. 7-0 Westview.

Mike Massey, Marquis Flowers and company went right back down the field and matched on a short Massey run for a score. 7-7.

Again it was Champion who put Westview in scoring range after a long run that got WV inside the 5. Grandon found Eric Ramsey in the endzone to take back the lead. 14-7.

This was the first of two scores between Ramsey and Grandon as the two hooked up in the second to build a 21-7 advantage.

Again it was Massey who scored for the Tigers as he punched in his second score of the night from a few yards put. DeAnthony Easley set up this score after a long run.

Score at the half Westview 28 Millennium 14.

Millennium fired off four unanswered scores in the second half to upset Westview 42-28.

Massey ran for another short score that was set up on a nice Flowers grab. Massey hooked up with Jason Vizcaino for his 4th TD of the bight to knot the score up at 28.

DeAnthony Easley got a defensive TD for the Tigers, picking up a fumble, to see Millennium take their first lead of the game. 35-28.

Westview turned the ball over twice in the 4th quarter to seal the victry for Millennium. Massey ran in the last score of the game with under 2 minutes to play. Final 42 Millennium 28.

Back and forth game that could have gone either way. Turnovers in the 4th quarter killed Westview's chances despite building a 28-14 halftime lead.

Jourdan Grandon played but only in the 1st half. He was dressed on the sideline, we will check to make sure he is okay.

Great all around effort for Millennium.

Game Ball

Great team effort but my game ball goes to Millennium QB Mike Massey who had a hand in five of the Tigers' six TDs.
