In-State Stars Stay Local

Breaking News from NAU lands at least four verbal commitments this weekend

To call Northern Arizona's recruiting weekend this weekend a success would be an understatement.

The Lumberjacks already had verbal commitments from Corona del Sol's Chase Cartwright and Sinagua's Hayden Renning prior to this weekend and has confirmed that at least four more local players have committed to NAU and three more could be coming.

Red Mountain teammates Jake Phipps and Craig Frum pulled the trigger. DE Phipps made 44 tackles and 3 sacks this year while LB Frum recorded 54 tackles and 1 sack.

NAU got a steal in All-Arizona DE Roy Garcia from Marcos de Niza. Garcia (6-2 235) made 114 tackles and 10.5 sacks while helping MdN reach the 5A2 state title game.

Not on an official visit, we reported yesterday that Cesar Chavez CB Adam Dixon made his verbal pledge.

Desert Vista's Anders Battle, Buckeye's Randy Hale, Hamilton's Zach Bauman and Gilbert's Jesse Brantley are also being heavily courted by the NAU staff and all four could eventually land in Flagstaff, giving NAU one of their best in-state recruiting classes in recent memory.
