AAAA-West recaps: The same old HAGs

Harrison, Alma and Greenwood are still the teams to beat in the AAAA-West Conference and the league's triumvirate shined again last week with a trio of victories.

The top three teams from the AAAA West remained unbeaten while three members couldn't repeat their Week 1 performance.

 

Alma 21, Ozark 0 Kyle Goodwin had another great performance while rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns. The Airedale defense also stepped up, holding the Hillbillies to 80 total yards of offense. Alma didn't complete a pass in the game and rode its rushing attack to the victory. Predicted Score: Alma 24, Ozark 10

 

Atkins 38, Clarksville 14 Three turnovers and a blocked punt enabled the Red Devils to outlast the Panthers in Pickletown. Atkins finished with 372 yards of total offense while Clarksville suffered its second season ending injury at the middle linebacker position. Predicted Score: Atkins 28, Clarksville 12

 

Vilonia 17, Greenbrier 14 The Panthers put up a tough fight against the top 10 AAAA Eagles. Vilonia scored the winning touchdown with 2:34 left in the game as Brandon Moreland and Josh Camden connected for two Greenbrier scores. Predicted Score: Vilonia 32, Greenbrier 18

 

Greenwood 10, Poteau, OK 9 The Bulldogs were missing a multitude of players and struggled to overcome the Pirates. Seth Jones kicked a 31 yard field goal in the 4th quarter to seal the victory. Predicted Score: Greenwood 21, Poteau 17

 

Harrison 42, Farmington 0 The Goblins never let the Cardinals out of the gate and coasted to an easy victory at Crooked Creek. Farmington gave away three fumbles, two interceptions, and had two punts blocked in the ball game. Justin McCutcheon had a big day for the Goblins rushing for around 100 yards and a score. Predicted Score: Harrison 33, Farmington 10

 

Berryville 21, Huntsville 14 Berryville grounded the Eagles passing attack as new coach Doug Scheel revenged last years loss to Huntsville when he was Morrilton's coach. Berryville held on to the seven point lead following a late third quarter touchdown. Predicted Score: Huntsville 20, Berryville 17

 

Morrilton 21, Dardanelle 8 Chris Loyd stole the show on a muddy field in Morrilton. Loyd caught a 62 yard TD pass to open up the scoring and then added a 70 yard punt return for a score later in the ball game.

Dardanelle's offense was grounded throughout the game and finished with around 100 total yards of offense. Predicted Score: Morrilton 22, Dardanelle 20

 

Stillwell, OK, 6, Siloam Springs 3 The Panthers struggled to get on the scoreboard throughout the game and managed only a field goal in the second quarter. A Stillwell touchdown in the 3rd quarter would be all that the Oklahoma team needed to secure the victory. Predicted Score: Siloam Springs 24, Stillwell 7
