Junction City football takes to the airwaves

El Dorado radio station KAGL-FM 93.3 will broadcast future Junction City sporting events.

Junction City Dragon football is now on the radio. Monday night the school board voted to allow El
Dorado station KAGL 93.3 (The Eagle) to broadcast Dragon football. General Manager Sandy Sanford
was very pleased to add the Dragons to NoalMark Broadcasting. Currently NoalMark carries El Dorado
and Hampton on their network.
Sanford said that having the games on the radio will help the Junction City athletes get more
recognition from colleges. He also mention that with Junction City on the air, it will students
from Junction to apply for a broadcasting internship program. "There are no negatives by doing
this", said Sanford.
Larry Murphy and John Pinson help make the deal with NoalMark come about. " We were wondering why
the Dragons were not on the air and why other stations were not carrying games from Junction City.
We called Sandy and met with him." After that meeting Murphy and Pinson talked with school board
members and asked how they felt. From that the monday meeting was called and the rest is history.
Everyone at the meeting was pleased with the results. "This will help our football program
immensly," said Dragons fan Jeff Owens.
Other sporting events involving the Dragons will be included in the deal. Plans are under way to
broadcast some baseball, basketball and softball games.
