AAAAWest.com is cruising along at 84% on the year and a perfect 8-0 in conference. But Alma, Greenwood, and Harrison will hit the road in Week 6 while 2-0 Morrilton plays Huntsville for Homecoming so if ever there was going to be a chance for an upset, now is the time. Greenbrier has a chance to make a statement by hosting Harrison. The Panthers need to knock off one of the four leaders in order to gain the playoff spot that their coaches are looking for. Might this be the year that Siloam Springs can finally beat Alma or Huntsville put it together again for its second straight over the Devil Dogs? We'll just have to wait and see.
Greenwood at Clarksville
What's this? Some of the faithful Greenwood fans aren't even going to make the trip to C-ville so that they can watch Rogers, and former coach Ronnie Peacock, take on FS Southside? I can't blame them as this game is going to be another ugly one for the Panthers. Billy Cotton ran for over 100 yards last week against Harrison, but I just don't see that happening this week against a very tough Greenwood run defense. I guess I should also mention that Greenwood's offense isn't that bad either ... Greenwood 45, Clarksville 9.
Huntsville at Morrilton
The Devil Dogs are sitting at 2-0 in conference following last week's come-from-behind victory over Siloam Springs while Huntsville was beaten by Greenwood by 30 and then held scoreless by Alma until the last few seconds. Only 14 points through the air is probably not a good sign for the Eagles even though Morrilton's defense didn't defend very well against Russellville's passing attack. Huntsville's no Russellville, though ... Morrilton 22, Huntsville 12.
Alma at Siloam Springs
If you're looking for an offensive outburst do not come to this game as both teams boast a strong running defense. Both teams use their 6-foot-6 linemen to clog the middle and wreak havoc on the outside. Both have also struggled offensively, Siloam with points, Alma with turnovers. The Panthers lined up and ran it down Morrilton's throat for about 300 yards, but they won't do that against a stiffer Alma run defense ... Alma 14, Siloam Springs 6.
Harrison at Greenbrier
Greenbrier managed a 3-point victory over Siloam to open conference play but struggled to score against Greenwood last week in a 31-point loss. Harrison, meanwhile, has shut out Alma and handled Clarksville. But, the Goblins defensive backs have yet to be tested this year. Greenbrier's passing attack is decent, but not good enough to knock off the Goblins. Even though it's very possible that Greenbrier could get the upset, I just don't see that happening ... Harrison 28, Greenbrier 10.
