SJSU Lands Central Cali WR

Visalia (Calif.) Redwood wide receiver K.C. Pearce is one of the fastest players in Central California, and he will be keeping his speed in state after verbally committing to San Jose State on Wednesday evening…

K.C. Pearce (6-3, 180) is one of the top wideouts in Central Cali as well as a standout on the track. The speedster clocked a 4.41 forty-yard dash the summer of 2009 at the COS Skill Camp before recording nearly 900 receiving yards and a league leading nine touchdowns during his junior year for the Redwood Rangers. This season, he has 325 receiving yards on 16 receptions and two scores through four games.

Pearce racked up an impressive list of offers over the spring and summer, including offers from BCS schools Arizona State, Minnesota, and Washington. However, when it came time to make the call, he decided to stay closer to home.

He gave San Jose State a verbal commitment on Wednesday night.

"Weather, location, and education – they have one of the top two kinesiology programs in the state," Pearce said of the reasons why he chose the Spartans.

Pearce also cited his relationship with SJSU QB Coach John DeFilippo as a major reason to commit to the WAC program over some of his BCS offers. He also held offers from Nevada and San Diego State.
