Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area Athlete of the Year

The final survivor in our Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area Athlete of the Year voting is senior two-sport standout Greg Reynolds from Terra Nova High of Pacifica. Watch this Sunday's show at 4:30 p.m. on KRON TV Channel 4 in San Francisco for CCS and NCS spring playoff coverage.

Our Dandy Duo for the 2002-03 school year turned out to be Maurice Drew from De La Salle of Concord and Greg Reynolds from Terra Nova of Pacifica. All the votes from our viewers and browsers of the CalHiSports.com site came in last week for one final tabulation and the winner was Reynolds.

The Stanford-bound Reynolds is perhaps the top senior hitter and pitcher this year in San Mateo County. Reynolds also was Terra Nova's starting quarterback last season and led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season.

Our Athlete of the Year program was purely a popularity contest, so no one should think at any time that it was case of someone on the show or running the web site actually choosing who would be eliminated each week.

We'd like to congratulate all who made the initial list more than two months ago and thank everyone who took time to send e-mails to Robert to have their votes counted.

For the record, the other two semifinalists with Reynolds and Drew were Anthony Reyes from Silver Creek of San Jose and Katy Digovich from Pinewood of Los Altos Hills.
