Notes & Highlights

Looks like we should have had Moreau in last week's rankings. The Mariners have a win over Alameda and last week won an important Hayward Area Athletic League contest over Arroyo, 2-0. Lizzie Prescott had eight strikeouts in pitching the shutout. Arroyo bounced back to beat Concord, 8-0, as Amy Espinosa pitched a two-hitter and went 4-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Notre Dame stayed in the top position after a 4-0 victory over Live Oak. Kim Reeder pitched a two-hitter for the Spirits and all-CCS outfielder Lindsay Schutzler had a home run.

Foothill continued to look good in the East Bay Athletic League with a 6-0 win over Granada of Livermore. Candice Pick made the Cowboys sick with a three-hitter, while Stacy Compton cranked out three hits to lead the offense.

The other new team in this week's top 20 other than Moreau is Newark Memorial. The Cougars beat Irvington of Fremont, 3-0, after Irvington had knocked off previously ranked Ursuline of Santa Rosa. Letty Olivarez tossed a two-hitter for NM. The other team dropping out of this week's 20 other than Ursuline is Presentation of San Jose (at least six losses now reported).
