Prodigy Wins AIGA 7th/8th Grade 7on7 Twice

The 7th and 8th grade team for Prodigy wins two AIGA 7on7 Tournaments...

The AIGA Foundation opened its 7th and 8th grade showcase at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles. 10 of the premier football academies in Southern California competed at the April 16th event. In an undefeated run, Prodigy Athletes took the championship.

Offensive standouts included Trent Irwin, an 8th grade receiver for the B2G high school team that has won the Badger 7 on 7 Vegas tournament 2 years in a row. Impressive quarterbacks were from the Oxynard Warriors, and 7th grade quarterback Vinny Bowes from Prodigy Athletes. Brandon Presley from the Prodigy Athletes team made big catches for his team all day, while his 7th grade running back Taylor Kekoa Lau scored 4 TD's during the event.

The defensive stars of the day were hawks at the Safety position Brandon Presley from Prodigy Athletes.

The AIGA Foundation's second event was held on May 15, at Redondo Union High School. 8 showcase teams showed up with new talent. In another undefeated run, Prodigy Athletes took the championship against Z Athletics.

Iman Marshall was a clear standout on both sides of the ball. He is a good looking 8th grader that is slated to start varsity as a freshman at Long Beach Poly High School next year.

Derrick Holmes from Z Athletics was a physical corner back with good speed. He was physical and rarely let wide receiver off the line of scrimmage. His athleticism helped his team on both sides of the ball. His quarterback Matt Boyle looked good for most of the day, and more experience should help this young pup get through his progressions faster at the next level.

Brandon Presley had another good day, and teammate Colin Baker was a constant threat on offense the entire tournament. The Prodigy Athletes defense only allowed 3 scores the entire day, all happening over their new cornerback. Cody Willis was outstanding at outside linebacker, recording 3 interceptions and 2 knock downs. 8th grader Cody Willis starts at outside linebacker for the Prodigy Athletes High School Showcase team that was invited to the Badger 7 on 7 national championship tournament in Dallas.
