Goforth Keeping Open Mind

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly two-way standout Randall Goforth is an amazing talent. He's blessed with great receiving skills as well as great cover skills on the defensive side of the ball. Considered a soft verbal to Arizona State, the nation's 25th ranked cornerback could take to the wire…

Randall Goforth was one of the top receivers if not the best performing at last spring's Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp. Despite his ability as a receiver, his future is most likely on the defensive side of the ball in college.

An early verbal commitment to Arizona State, Goforth backed off his verbal pledge after the firing of former Sun Devil head coach Dennis Erikson. A slew of Pac-12 schools have offered, but the three-star prospect isn't limiting his options.

One school making a late push in Southern California scouring for elite defensive backs in Fresno State. New Bulldog defensive back coach – and former NFL All-Pro –Tim McDonald is part of Fresno's more aggressive recruiting approach. But Goforth says he hasn't heard from the Bulldogs.

"Until I hear from others, my options are open minded," said Goforth.

Nonetheless, his calendar is booked the next two weekends with visits to Tempe and UCLA.

He says no other schools have attempted to sway him to take a last minute visit the final weeks of the recruiting period before signing day. "Nah, everything is good," he added.

Coming off his most recent visit to Washington last weekend, Goforth says he remains in contact with the new ASU staff. Coming down to the wire, he will likely decide between the Huskies, Sun Devils, and Bruins possibly as late as signing day.
