Recapping the Rubio Long Snapping California Camp...
Long Snappers came out to CA to attend the Rubio Long Snapping CA
Camp on February 23rd from CA, AZ, NV, IA, OR and TX to get the best Long
Snapping instruction and exposure in
the country for Long Snappers. Long Snappers, and their parents/guardians, were
instructed on the field, had a film and classroom session, a recruiting seminar
and ended the day with a competition with Rubio present and running the camp.
Each Long Snapper was filmed and will have a player profile provided for them
The overall winner of the camp was Oregon Duck commit and current
#1 Long Snapper in the country, Tanner
Carew (CA, '14)! Carew left no doubt that he is the top Long Snapper
in the country. Whether he was running down field like a gazelle or snapping an
absolute rocket, Carew was the man. He was calm, handled pressure very well and
almost nonchalant the whole day. He is flat out ready for the next level right
now. Oregon got a great one in Carew.
Long Snappers -
Walsh (JC, CA) continues to become more and more confident with each
snap. Might just be the best PAT snapper in the country and he is always working
towards becoming better. Excellent snapper and person.
Duffy (CA) was snapping great all day and showed me that the Duke
commit is working his tail off to get ready for fall camp. Kid is always
improving and he is snapping the ball hard.
Bertoni (CA) is a JC Long Snapper that has not been snapping for that
long but you would never know. He rips the ball back to the punter and is
oozing with confidence.
Richardson (CA) might snap the hardest ball in the country. He is
built strong and thick with a ton of power from his body. He has an excellent
attitude and has the ability to be a great college Long Snapper.
Other notable 2014 Long Snappers in attendance: Nick Avantino, Bo
Smith, Zach Smith and Sam Vea
Long Snappers -
Farr (NV) is coming off his win at the 12th Annual Rubio Long
Snapping camp and is still riding the wave. He is VERY confident and smooth when
he snaps a ball. He was recently offered a full ride to Oregon St. and that will
not be a wasted scholarship on their part, this kid can snap!
Carty (CA) was on fire all day in CA. He is built like a D1 Long
Snapper already and snaps as fast as college snapper as well. Hands are quick
and he has great form. Soon, he will flat out dominate a camp from start to
Farnsworth (NV) has some of the quickest hands in the country and,
when you combine that with solid form, just makes a flat out great Long Snapper.
This kid can absolutely fly on his feet.
Foley (CA) is a Long Snapper that just continues to plug away and
never stay stagnant. Always improving with his form, speed and athleticism. Well
on the way to greatness.
Michael Poujol (TX) has an absolutely great frame and snaps a rocket
back to the punter. Once he locks down his spiral, he will be a 5 Star Rubio
Block (AZ) is a JC Long Snapper built very strong with a nice, solid,
consistent ball that is always on target. He will be ready to move on in
December and will be a solid pick up for someone.
Simmons (CA) is quite possibly the most accurate and consistent Long
Snapper in the country.
Gluhaich (CA) is, pound for pound, has the strongest snap in the
country. Watching this kid snap a ball is a pure joy.
Other notable 2015 Long Snappers in attendance: Richard Wilcox,
Jordan Ober, JT Bale, Peter Comaroto, Harrison Hoffman, Tommy Merickel, Mike
Soto and Paul Mesa
Long Snappers -
Johnson (CA) was a joy to watch all day long in CA. He continues to
get bigger and stronger while still maintaining his form. His ball is quick and
he is definitely headed in the right direction. The more confidence he gets, the
better he will be.
Den Bleyker (CA) might be the most athletic Long Snapper in his
class. Kid moves very well on his feet and snaps a great ball.
Aloma (CA) showed great promise all day. Form is nearly perfect and
he snaps the ball very hard. The more athletic he gets, the higher he goes in
Walsh (CA) Has exceptional form and is really coming into his own.
Confidence is rising and you can tell when he competes. The more athletic he
gets, the higher he goes in the rankings.
Other notable 2016 Long Snappers in attendance: Grant Crum
Long Snappers -
Dhabalt (IA) was very impressive to me all day in CA. He has great
form and snaps the ball with a ton of power. Keep an eye on him.
Lawver (UT) has improved as much as anyone in the past couple months.
His form is good and he is snapping with some great confidence.
Snodgrass (CA) showed me some very quick hands and great form.
Definitely headed in the right direction.
