VIDEO: Kearns Carves at Passing Down

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- Kyle Kearns of Pleasanton (Calif.) Foothill guides his 7on team to the NorCal Regional title at Passing Down, and updates his recruiting status.

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- After winning the Nor Cal Regional Passing Down seven-on-seven tournament on Sunday, Pleasanton (Calif.) Foothill quarterback Kyle Kearns talked a bit about his team, and about recruiting.

Kearns was able to guide his team to the title thanks to a quartet of top-flight prospects in Austin Aaron, Collin Johnson, Morian Walker, Jr. and Stephen Johnson, but without Foothill teammate Isaiah Langley, who played for Team TMP Elite. Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley receiver J.J. Koski, who caught the vast majority of Bay Area Elite's touchdowns.

"We've got the versatility in our team, it's just enormous," Kearns said. "We've got Austin Aaron, Collin Johnson and we've got guys who are great receivers all around like J.J. Koski, Christian Fuca, the list goes on, Peter Frienam, Matt Snyderson, these guys are good, every one of them."

On the recruiting front, since receiving his first scholarship offer from SMU, Kearns is still talking with hometown team California, as well as several others.

"I've been talking with some coaches on when their spring ball starts. I've talked with coach [Tony] Franklin on when they start up and what their game plan is with me, and still building relationships," Kearns said. "Colorado, Wake Forest, those are pretty much the two that are recruiting me right now besides SMU. I've been talking with coach [Derrick] Odum from SMU a ton, since he offered me, and building relationships."
