San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra offensive lineman Luke Wattenberg has been largely under the radar so far, but that won't last long for the 2016 prospect.
Last week, California stopped by with a scholarship offer, and on Saturday, Oregon State pulled the trigger.
"Oregon State called my O-line coach, talked about me and I called the Oregon State coach and he offered me on the phone," said Wattenberg, who's off to the CIF Prelims on Saturday to compete in the shot put and discus "He's going to come visit me this week to come see me in action."
"It's a very big program, as far as football, and it's in a good location, but that's pretty much all I know about Oregon State," Wattenberg said of the Beavers. "I'm just getting in to this whole process."
Wattenberg is also seeing interest from several other programs, including Duke and BYU.
"I'm going to the BYU camp this summer," Wattenberg said. "They said they're close to offering me, but they won't offer anyone who hasn't been on campus, yet."
Wattenberg is also planning on going to the Cal Poly camp, and, if there's time, camp with the Golden Bears.
Academically, Wattenberg has a 3.7 GPA.
