NFTC: Waller Talks Cal Visit

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Four-star quarterback Travis Waller talks about Cal's receivers, his trip to campus and more after Sunday's NFTC event.

HAYWARD, Calif. -- After earning a spot at The Opening thanks to his performance in the Elite 11 on Friday, four-star quarterback Travis Waller and his mother took a trip to the California campus, and it was just about everything the Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback had hoped for.

"It was really fun, actually," Waller told BearTerritory after the NFTC event on the campus of Chabot College on Sunday. "They showed me around the whole campus, coach [Rob] Likens, the wide receivers coach, showed me around the whole campus, told me a lot of stuff. I want to go into business, so he told me a lot about their business program. Also, the director of recruiting, Delaney [Gallagher] was there, and he told me everything. He told me most everything about the school, from the bottom, up, inside and out. He showed me the locker room, all that type of stuff."

Waller was on campus for three hours, and wasn't able to go truly in-depth with the academic advisor, but the trip was a good starting point for him and the Bears.

"It was a good one," said Waller, who added that the trip cemented what he already thought about the Bears going in. "Clayton Johnson had been telling me all about them."

Waller also took a look at highlight film of the Bear Raid, and, perhaps more importantly, Likens showed off his fathoms-deep wide receiving corps – a corps that Waller could potentially throw to, one day.

"He said, ‘If you come here, you have all these guys to throw to,' like Bryce Treggs. That's just one of them, but that's the one I'm familiar with," Waller said. "There are lots of guys that are really good, as well. He said it's definitely a good spot for me to be."
