We just talked to Parker last week at The Opening in Beaverton and he said his commitment was very strong (see video below).
Fast forward a week and Parker will now start from scratch and begin the recruiting process all over. We haven’t caught up with Parker yet but in talking to a couple of people very close to his recruitment, it sounds like a couple of schools may have the inside track right now.
Oregon just recently got in the picture with Parker but has yet to offer. In fact, one thing we heard was the possibility of an Oregon offer was one of the reasons Parker decided to open things up. If the Ducks do offer, not only would they be high on his list, they could potentially jump to the very top of it.
Oklahoma is another school Parker will give a strong look at. The Sooners have been on Parker hard for some time and is also recruiting his close friend Shurod Thompson, who recently set up an October official visit. Even while committed to different schools, Parker and Thompson still maintained they wanted to play together in college and the Sooners are the one school recruiting both of them.
USC is another school that never stopped recruiting Parker and will be in this one until the end. Prior to his commitment to UCLA, the Trojans were the school believed to be the leader. USC DB coach Keith Heyward has a very strong relationship with the Parker family and there’s a feeling that the longer his recruitment plays out, the better the odds for the Trojans.
UCLA will continue to recruit Parker as well and isn’t giving up here but history has shown, when a player de-commits from one school, they rarely re-commit to the same school later in the process.
