Verbum Dei Welcomes Back A Hero

Former UCLA star and professional basketball player David Greenwood will return for a second stint coaching his alma mater, the Los Angeles Times has reported.

Greenwood had a 54-12 record in two seasons with Verb in 1998 and 1999, both of which resulted in state Div. IV titles. During his initial tenure, he coached the likes of guard Marlon Parmer (New Mexico) and forward Dalron Johnson (Nevada-Las Vegas).

Since Greenwood's departure, Verbum Dei's program has struggled a bit and had to endure the transfer of national top 100 senior Hassan Adams to Westchester High.

"We're going to try and put it back together a little bit," Greenwood told the Times. "I'm determined not to let the program go downhill."
