Stat Standouts of the Week

Junior running back Chauncey Washington of South High School in Torrance leads this week's edition of "Stat Standouts". Washington totaled 306 and five touchdowns on just 10 carries in South's 52-33 win over Beverly Hills.

297 yds -- Marcus Lampkin, Twentynine Palms vs. Ocean View (Huntington Beach). Carried 20 times and scored three TDs as team won, 35-13.

295 yds -- Jared Cleaver, Exeter vs. Woodland. Carried 25 times and had one TD in 41-6 victory.

281 yds -- Evan Fisher, Julian vs. Emmanuel Christian. Carried 35 times and scored four TDs in 32-20 eight-man win.

275 yds -- Matt Padilla, Arlington (Riverside) vs. Corona. Carried 16 times and scored three TDs in 38-22 triumph.

270 yds -- Kenny James, Dos Palos vs. Hilmar. Carried 17 times and scored on runs of 3 and 70 yds in 35-0 victory. The win avenged a 14-7 loss last year that broke a 39-game win streak by Dos Palos.

259 yds -- Daniel Dixon, El Modena (Orange) vs. Los Alamitos. Also scored three times in 41-31 loss.

251 yds -- Marquis Cole, Vanden (Travis AFB) vs. Redwood (Larkspur). Also had five TDs in 48-7 triumph.

248 yds -- D'Andre McFarland, Pinole Valley (Pinole) vs. Kennedy (Sacramento). Scored on runs of 24, 8, 25 and 38 yds in 64-6 romp.

241 yds -- Aaron Ware, Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) vs. Rosamond. Freshman brother of UCLA starting DB Matt Ware had 19 carries and scored twice in 23-8 win.

238 yds -- Sharrod Davis, Monte Vista (Spring Valley) vs. Sweetwater (National City). Sophomore also scored two TDs as Monarchs beat Red Devils, 48-20.

232 yds -- Shaun Wildenstein, Esperanza (Anaheim) vs. Upland. Taking over from graduated standout Tim Sonuyi, Wildenstein had three TDs and led Aztecs to 49-7 win over defending CIF Southern Section Div. II champions.

222 yds -- Vincent Mays, Johnson (Sacramento) vs. Del Campo (Fair Oaks). Carried 19 times and had 4 TDs (including one from 93 yds) in 44-14 triumph.

221 yds -- Andy Meyer, Northwood (Irvine) vs. Notre Dame (Riverside). Scored three TDs as team downed Notre Dame, 35-14.

220 yds -- Cesar Murillo, Norte Vista (Riverside) vs. La Sierra (Riverside). Junior scored on 71-yd run on team's first play and had int return for TD in 49-26 victory.

412 yds -- Tim Bessolo, Los Alamitos vs. El Modena (Orange). Completed 23 of 27 passes and had four TD passes in 41-31 victory.

348 yds -- Markell Gallow, Sacramento vs. Highlands (North Highlands). Hit on 13 of 21 passes and had two TD passes in 47-14 triumph.

334 yds -- Hudson Gossard, Crescenta Valley (La Crescenta) vs. Thousand Oaks. The diminutive signal caller won his duel with highly-recruited Ben Olson for a second straight year as the Falcons beat the Lancers, 24-21. Gossard completed 28 of 36 passes.

295 yds -- Justin Dion, Desert (Edwards AFB) vs. Big Bear (Big Bear Lake). Completed 11 of 18 passes and had three TD passes in 34-6 triumph. Big Bear won last year's game by 49-14.

283 yds -- Michael Lange, Bishop Amat (La Puente) vs. Valencia. Completed 7 of 12 passes in 35-21 victory.

280 yds -- James Jones, Gunderson (San Jose) vs. Pioneer (San Jose). Connected on 15 of 19 passes and two TDs. Also 2-yd TD run. Grizzlies won, 33-7.

Receiving

12 catches -- Kevin Van Gorder, Los Alamitos vs. El Modena (Orange). Used catches to pile up 238 yds and three TDs. Griffins won, 41-31.

10 catches -- Steve Smith, Taft (Woodland Hills) vs. Crenshaw (L.A.). Sensational junior also had three picks as a defender. Crenshaw still won, 21-14.

Scoring

6 TDs -- Adam Vucurevich, Harker Academy (San Jose) vs. Calif. School for the Deaf (Berkeley. Rushed for 106 yds on 21 carries, caught two passes for 32 yds and intercepted a pass in 52-0 victory.

5 TDs -- Dennis Keyes, Birmingham (Van Nuys) vs. Canoga Park. One of the junior's TDs came on a kickoff return in 55-0 win.

5 TDs -- Steve Freeman, Stockdale (Bakersfield) vs. Lancaster. Also carried 35 times for 201 yds rushing in 35-0 victory.

5TDs -- Chauncey Washington, South (Torrance) v. Beverly Hills. Also carried 10 times and rushed for 306 yds in 52-33 win.

All-Around

Kevin Davies (Chula Vista) -- Ran back an 85-yd punt return for TD, rushed 10 times for 76 yds, kicked a 33-yd FG and added two PATs in 23-7 victory over University City of San Diego.

Marcus Hollingsworth (San Diego) -- Super quick junior had a huge day, throwing for 202 yds and two TDs while also rushing for 101 yds and one TD in 34-0 win over Hilltop of Chula Vista.

Kyle Killingsworth (Ferndale) -- Returned six kickoffs for 308 yds and had a 75-yard punt return for a score in 34-0 romp vs. McKinleyville. Killingsworth also rushed for 166 yds on 14 carries with two TDs and threw for one TD.

Monte McNair (Oak Park) -- The speedy wide receiver caught a 10-yard TD pass, returned a punt 65 yards for a score, recovered a fumble and kicked four extra points as the Eagles beat Kern Valley, 34-6.

Defense

3 ints -- Mel Cuckovich, Christian Brothers (Sacramento) vs. El Camino (Sacramento). Two were returned for TDs. He also scored on 10-yd run. CBS won 37-0.

3 ints -- Lorenzo Sims, Edison (Fresno) vs. South (Bakersfield). One of the three picks was returned by Sims for a 42-yd TD. Came in 46-0 rout.

3 sacks -- Matthew Malele, Carson vs. Jordan (Long Beach). Junior defensive tackle was key force that allowed Colts to control line of scrimmage in 29-19 triumph.

99 yd fumble return -- Aaron Oliver, Central Valley Christian (Visalia) vs. Parlier. Oliver tied a state record in 35-6 victory.

Kicking

4 FGs -- Jose Martinez, Reedley vs. Sanger. Tied Central Section record with boots from 20, 44, 37 and 35 yds in 26-6 victory.
