CAL-HI SPORTS BAY AREA BACK ON KRON

Pioneering TV host Robert Braunstein begins his 12th year broadcasting high school sports highlights in the San Francisco Bay Area. The first show of the 2003-04 school year is Sunday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. on KRON TV, Channel 4, San Francisco.

We at Cal-Hi Sports are pleased to see that our affiliation with Robert Braunstein's ground-breaking high school sports TV show in the San Francisco Bay Area will be continuing for a second straight full school year.

Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area was launched in January of 2002 on KGO, the San Francisco ABC network affiliate. It switched for the 2002-03 school year to KRON, an independent station, and the shows this year will again be shown on KRON. Replays of the popular show will be on FOX Sports Bay Area, first on Mondays at 7 p.m. and then on Thursdays in the afternoon (check your listings each week for that one).

Braunstein first began producing high school sports highlights shows during a career at San Jose's KICU, Channel 36, nearly 10 years ago. This will be the 12th year in which Braunstein has hosted a version of his show.

Cal-Hi Sports editor Mark Tennis and Cal-Hi Sports founder Nelson Tennis will provide exclusive Bay Area rankings to support each show and will correspond with Braunstein for story ideas. Mark and Nelson Tennis have been following Bay Area high school sports for 25 years together and Nelson, a former resident of San Francisco, has been compiling records of Bay Area teams for nearly 35 years.

According to Braunstein, the first show of the new school year (which airs on Sunday, August 31) will include an in-depth preview look at Concord De La Salle's juggernaut football team, a feature on former De La Salle player Patrick Walsh's team at Serra of San Mateo, highlights from a recent football lineman camp, highlights from the Charley Wedemeyer Classic all-star football game and highlights from the North-South boys and girls basketball all-star games that were held two weeks ago at Cal's Haas Pavilion.
