Houston Breaks All-Time Girls SD Scoring Record

Houston, signed at the University of Connecticut, set the record in 111 games...

Needing three points to break the San Diego Section girls basketball career scoring record after a 20-point first half, San Diego High's Charde Houston broke it last night.

A jumper off the glass equaled the 3-year-old record, and when a whistle signaled a foul on the play the 6-foot-2 senior had a chance to break the mark.

Houston nailed the free throw.

Houston finished with 36 points despite sitting out the final quarter as second-ranked San Diego rolled to a 92-41 victory.

The 36 points give Houston 3,339, surpassing the 3,325 scored by Brandi Collato while attending Santa Fe Christian from 1998 to 2001.

Houston, signed at the University of Connecticut, set the record in 111 games. Collato, now at University of San Diego, used 124 to top Terri Mann, who scored 3,188 while leading Point Loma to four straight state titles from 1984 to '87.
