Girls: Jessica Javalet
(Torrey Pines, San Diego)
The CIF San Diego Section is generally regarded as the best in the state when it comes to field hockey and last week it was Javalet who led Torrey Pines to the CIFSD Div. I championship. The junior midfielder scored twice in a 4-1 victory in the quarterfinals and had the Falcons' only goal in a 1-0 win in the semifinals. In the championship match against league rival La Costa Canyon, Javalet struck yet again with a game-tying goal late in the match to force overtime. Torrey Pines went on to win, 3-2, and capped a 25-2-1 season.
