STAT STANDOUTS OF THE WEEK (Games of Nov. 30-Dec. 1)

Rushing Yards

283 - Kenny James, Dos Palos vs. Garces (Bakersfield) on 26 carries.  Also scored five TDs from 59, 1, 8, 12 and 76 yards in 55-28 playoff win. Dos Palos goes for another CIF Central Section Sequoia Division (small) title this week against Fresno San Joaquin Memorial.

264 - Jimmy Manly, Mayfair (Lakewood) vs. Laguna Hills in 33-18 playoff win. Carried 30 times and scored three TDs. Has rushed for over 700 yards and scored eight TDs in the playoffs. Team plays La Mirada in all-Suburban League CIFSS Div. VI title game.

246 - Keith Brown, Los Altos (Hacienda Heights) vs. Santa Fe (Santa Fe Springs).  Carried 40 times and scored three TDs in 34-0 win. Los Altos going for third straight CIFSS Div. VII title and meets Charter Oak for third straight year.

241 - Jerrone Garrett, San Joaquin Memorial (Fresno) vs. Kingsburg in 38-28 win.  Also carried 32 times and scored two TDs on runs of 2 and 11 yards.

237 - Matt McCormick, San Luis Obispo vs. Ventura on 27 carries. Led Tigers to 21-7 CIFSS Div. IV playoff win over team that won the week before over Thousand Oaks.

233 - Thomas Stancil, Bakersfield vs. Clovis West (Fresno).  Carried 19 times and scored four TDs from 56, 3, 29 and 62 yards in 30-6 win. Drillers now play Clovis in CIF Central Section Yosemite Division title game and are now in the Student Sports FAB 50 national rankings.

228 - Jacob Flowe, Chino vs. San Clemente.  Also scored four TDs on 27 carries to help Chino to a 32-7 victory.

226 - Lorenzo Booker, St. Bonaventure (Ventura) vs. Valley Christian (Cerritos).  Also had three TDs including a 77 yard score on his second carry of the game.  St. Bonaventure advanced in CIFSS Div. XI playoffs, 56-16.

213 - R.J. Flamson, Mammoth (Mammoth Lakes) vs. Campbell Hall (North Hollywood). Also scored three TDs as team won, 47-26, and advanced to CIFSS Div. XIII title game against Arrowhead Christian.

206 - Tyrice Daniels, Elk Grove vs. Johnson (Sacramento).  Carried 34 times and had five rushing TDs in 34-15 playoff victory.

Passing Yards

339 - Matt Moore, Hart (Newhall) vs. Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach). All-state candidate completed 26 of 37 passes with one TD and rushed for 65 yards and one TD in 35-6 win over team that was unbeaten.

331 - Kenny Brown, North Torrance (Torrance) vs. Inglewood.  Also threw six TDs in second half comeback win, 42-33.

293 - Tommy Grady, Edison (Huntington Beach) vs. Mater Dei (Santa Ana).  Top-notch junior completed 8-of-10 passes and threw two TDs in 41-7 win.

287 - Brandon Brooks, Poly (Long Beach) vs. Los Alamitos. Versatile senior also threw two TD passes in the first half to lead Poly to 28-7 victory. 

TD Passes

6 - Kenny Brown, North Torrance (Torrance) vs. Inglewood. Led North Torrance to a come from behind win with three TD passes in the second half. Also threw for 331 yards in 42-33 victory.

6 - Alex Smith, Helix (La Mesa) vs. Monte Vista (Spring Valley). Completed 10 of 12 passes for 273 yards and directed offense to 647 total yards. Helix won, 61-28, and avenged its only loss of the year in big way.


5 TDs - Tyrice Daniels, Elk Grove vs. Johnson (Sacramento).  Also rushed for 206 yards on 34 carries as Herd dominated, 34-15.

5 TDs - Kenny James, Dos Palos vs. Garces on 26 carries.  Scored from 59, 1, 8, 12 and 76 yards in 55-28 playoff win.


9 - Jeff Gray, North (Torrance) vs. Inglewood. Had 120 yards and one TD in come-from-behind 42-33 victory.


Reggie Bush, Helix (La Mesa) vs. Monte Vista (Spring Valley). Sensational junior rushed eight times for 111 yards and two TDs (32, 47), caught TD passes of 66 and 30 yards and tossed a 53-yard TD pass. Highlanders won, 61-28.

Jeff Nowlin, Clovis vs. Central (Fresno)  Had six receptions for 68 yards and picked off three passes in 13-7 win.


Frederick Collins, La Quinta vs. Barstow in 21-7 win.  Collins helped to preserve the victory for La Quinta with a interception returned for a TD with 20 seconds remaining in the game.  Also scored an 8 yard rushing TD. La Quinta plays Kaiser of Fontana in CIFSS Div. VIII title game.


Jarred Martin, La Mirada vs. Newport Harbor in 13-10 overtime victory.  Martin booted a 43-yard FG to tie the score with two seconds left at the end of regulation. He then kicked a 21-yard game winner in overtime.


*Middletown 21, Cloverdale 7. Mustangs capped unbeaten season with Chris Hunsaker rushing for 114 yards on 19 carries and one TD.

*Rancho Cotate (Rohnert Park) 28, Montgomery (Santa Rosa) 23. The Cougars won their first NCS 3A Redwood Empire title behind Chris Magallon, who rushed for 80 yards and three TDs.
