Central Section Highlights

In with the old and the new as some familiar (and not so familiar) names can lay claim to championships. And what Kenny James did at Dos Palos is sure to earn him a boatload of individual honors as well...

Yosemite Division (large)
Bakersfield won its 33rd section title and its first since 1994 with a 42-14 victory over Clovis. The Drillers, ranked No. 5 in the state, wrapped up a 13-0 season. They were led by Thomas Stancil who had 25 carries for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Jonathon Dover, who completed 16-25 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Clovis played without Jordan Christensen, who suffered a broken collarbone on Wednesday in practice.

Sanger defeated Centennial of Bakersfield 20-3. The Apaches were coming off a 25-24 upset from the week before over top-seeded Edison of Fresno.

Sequoia Division (large)
