Erik Lorig had a great first game in a big Palos Verdes win. He had around 13 tackles and a 52-yard interception for a touchdown. On offense at tight end, he had one catch for 10 yards. Schools like him at different positions, but most see him at tight end.
"'SC has mentioned a fullback/tight end spot and also defensive end," said Lorig. "When I went to the Colorado State game I had a chance to talk to the coaches. Coach Carroll told me he likes me on offense and Coach (defensive line coach Ed) Orgeron told me he likes me at defensive end," the prospect explained laughing. "Notre Dame and Stanford mainly like me at defensive end. Everyone else sees me at tight end."
"My top schools are 'SC, Cal, Notre Dame, UCLA, Arizona, and Stanford. I have offers from all of them."
This month he has received calls from USC, UCLA, Cal, LSU, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, and Stanford.
The versatile athlete has not scheduled any visits yet, but says he will make the Trojans-Cardinal game in Palo Alto in two weeks, but it will not be an official visit.
He is not completely positive what local schools will get "official" visits. "I will probably take one to USC but I am not sure about UCLA. My mom went there so I have seen enough from them that I know how it is. I am getting close to scheduling all of my visits. Arizona and Notre Dame will probably get two of them."
He says the Trojans are the most active in his recruitment as they have called consistently this month.
Lorig re-iterated that his parents are not pressuring him towards any certain school despite the fact that his mom is a Bruin and his father is a Cal Bear.
"My mom does not really cheer for any certain team. She is kind of a fan of everyone. My Dad loves Cal and is a big fan."
Palos Verdes takes on Gardena Serra, Saturday.
