Calif ATH Charles Brown (6-6, 250, 4.9) says USC (camp) leads slightly over UCLA (camp), Arizona, Oregon and Arizona St. USC, Arizona and Oregon have offered as well as San Diego St.
The youngster from Pomona Diamond Ranch says, "I like USC right now because they're close to home and they're the one school I've been in most contact with. They've got a great coaching staff and a fast program that knows what they want to get done. I also like the way they use their running game.
"UCLA has a great campus and the coaches there are cool. They've got a program that they're rebuilding and that's pretty good. If I go there it would be because of the coaching staff and that it's close to home.
"Arizona's coaches have been calling me a lot, but I don't know much about the program there. I do like the way they run a two TE set, and they want me as a TE over there. They need some TEs and that's good.
"Oregon uses their TEs a lot and the coaches there seem pretty cool. I talked with asst coach (John) Niel recently about the formations they use.
"Arizona St also uses their TEs a lot and I like asst head coach (Tom) Osborne (TEs/ST) too. One of my favorite NFL TEs (Todd Heat) went there."
Brown will officially visit Oregon and Arizona--no dates.
