After Quarterback Josh Portis committed to Utah on Monday night, San Diego St. Augustine star Jason Forcier spoke with the Utes' staff and both parties decided it be best they part ways. Portis committing to Utah may end uo being one of the best things to happen to ASU this recruiting cycle because now it sounds like Forcier is planning to take his game to Tempe.

"I just got off the phone with Coach (Utah Offensive Coordinator Mike) Sanford and it sounds like Josh Portis just beat me to the punch," said Forcier. "My guess is that he knew I was going there for a trip this weekend and heard I said I was probably going to commit and went ahead and did it before me. We both knew Utah was only taking one quarterback. It is fine, though, I am sure it is for the best.

"I am going to the USC-Arizona State game this week because I want to check out Arizona State a little bit. I really like ASU a lot. One of my coaches is Dick Van Raaphorst and his son, Jeff Van Raaphorst, is still out in Tempe so I am going to meet him when I go out there on November 6th. I am getting a little antsy to make my decision now because I have Homecoming coming up and I want to get on with my senior year. I have talked to my dad about even taking a day or two trip there before November 6th just so I can hurry up my decision even more. I am not sure if that is going to happen, or not."

Although the Sun Devils are the clear favorite to land his signature at this point, schools like Oregon, Colorado, and San Diego State have a "little" bit of a chance. "I am looking at those schools a little. But right now it is looking like Arizona State for me."

All four schools have offered.

UCLA was showing some pretty heavy interest recently but that appears to have died down.

Forcier has led St. Augustine to a 4.1 record on the season and has passed for 1,024 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also ran for 500 yards and eight touchdowns.
