BB Stat Stars of the Week

Leading the latest statewide honor roll is a boys player who scored 46 points and went over 1,000 for his career and a girls player who had 45 points and grabbed 32 rebounds in the same game.

STAT STANDOUTS

OF THE WEEK

(Games of Jan. 14-21)

Boys

Omar Amaral (Bolsa Grande, Garden Grove) -- Omar got a lot of "Oh, mys" when he netted 36 points in BG's 72-59 win over Rancho Alamitos. That also gave him 96 points over three games.

Peter Boudoures (Anderson Valley) -- Bombed away for 36 points and had 10 rebounds and five assists in team's victory over Rio Lindo Adventist of Healdsburg.

Rueben Boykin (University, Los Angeles) -- In a convincing 79-59 Western League victory over Venice, the junior, who came into the game averaging 26 points per contest, torched the Gondoliers for 38 points. He also contributed 21 rebounds.

Tim Brown (Franklin, Stockton) -- The versatile athlete, who was also one of the top football players in the area last fall, led the Yellowjackets with 32 points in a tough 74-65 loss to Lodi in SJAA action.

Wayne Chamberlain (Washington, Los Angeles) -- In a dominating victory over San Pedro, Chamberlain led the way with 35 points including 13-of-14 from the charity stripe. The Generals won, 57-40.

Jimmy Goffredo (Crescenta Valley, La Crescenta) -- Groffredo was nearly unstoppable in the Falcons victory over Arcadia with 36 points, including a great display of long range shooting with eight three pointers.

Gentry Goode (Caruthers) -- Paced a 86-74 victory over Riverdale with 36 points. Teammate John Yosimura contributed 31.

Tigran Grigorian (Mesrobian, Pico Rivera) -- In a 100-46 trashing of La Verne Calvary Baptist, Grigorian led the way with 39 points. Teammate Makhail Bursalian added 35. Brusalian also had 37 last week in a victory vs. Pacific Christian.

Tyler Kealey ( Bell-Jeff, Burbank) -- Scored 32 points and added five assists in 65-51 victory over Salesian of Los Angeles.

Jino LaBomme (Covina) -- In a 62-54 victory over South Hills of West Covina, LaBomme was the bomb with 31 points, 14 steals and eight assists.

Kevin Lewis (Locke, Los Angeles) -- Paced the Saints in a 96-81 loss to Fremont with a game high 33 points and 14 rebounds.

Maurice Neal (Canoga Park) -- Handed out 10 assists to go with 33 points and four steals as the Hunters downed Hollywood High, 91-83.

Devin Peal (Kennedy, Richmond) -- Pumped in 32 points and hauled down 13 rebounds as Eagles downed St. Elizabeth of Oakland, 84-73.

Ramone Prescotte (Gardena) -- Racked up 45 points in team's 94-43 demolition of San Pedro.

Chris Randall (Newbury Park) -- Scored 36 points but Newbury Park still lost to Moorpark, 79-58, on Wednesday.

Nick Roberds (Upland Christian) -- Led the Eagles to a convincing 72-46 victory over Lake Arrowhead Christian by scoring 32 points and adding 14 rebounds.

Joey Saavedra (Banning, Wilmington) -- Hit six three-pointers and had 35 points in an 83-76 win over Narbonne in Marine League action.

Adrian Sanchez (Le Grand) -- In a thrilling 87-85 (2 OT) loss to Mariposa, the Bulldog star kept his team in the contest by scoring a game-high 38 points.

Steve Smith (Taft, Woodland Hills) -- The State Junior Player of the Year in football is starting to crank it up on the hardwood. He had 30 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a game last week against Granada Hills to lead Taft to a 75-69 triumph.

Kevin Tyler (Rio Rancho, Corona) -- In a lopsided 104-23 win over South Bay Lutheran, Tyler connected for 40 points.

Brian Waugh (Desert Christian, Lancaster) -- Came up with a triple-double of 28 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists as team beat Silver Valley of Yermo, 95-61.

Josh Zazulia (Palm Desert) -- Josh's monstrous 46-point outburst in Palm Desert's 87-58 win over Cathedral City pushed him past 1,000 points for his career.

Girls

Nikki Blue (West, Bakersfied) -- Scored 44 points in 78-72 victory over Centennial and added 16 points in a 70-40 romp over Foothill.

Ashlee Dunlap (Fairfax, Los Angeles) -- Posted a triple-double with 14 points, 18 rebounds and 14 steals as the Lions clipped Carson, 53-43.

Jessica Fisiihava (Cajon, San Bernardino) -- Jessica leads San Bernardino County with nearly 29 ppg. The 5-9 junior guard had 39 last week in three quarters against Pacific to lead Cajon to an 87-56 win.

Tye'sha Fluker (Muir, Pasadena) -- The Univ. of Tennessee-bound standout finished with 33 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks in a 92-37 win over Glendale.

Kelly Geis (El Segundo) -- Scored enough points for both teams in an El Segundo win over Centennial, 77-30.  Geis had 46 points including 12-12 from the free-throw line.

Lindsay Harris (Valley Christian, San Jose) -- Proving that not all of the top juniors in San Jose go to Mitty, the Warriors' star poured in a game-high 30 points in a 75-33 waxing of Mt. Pleasant.

Melissa Jacob (El Dorado, Placentia) -- Tied a school record with 36 points, mostly by making 12-of-14 free throws, and led the Golden Hawks to a 65-49 triumph over Katella of Anaheim.

Natasha Lewis (Kearny, San Diego) -- Had 84 points in three games this past week.  20 against Serra...20 versus San Diego and 44 with 12 assists, 11 rebounds and 6 steals against Mira Mesa.

Morgan McGill (Del Mar, San Jose) -- McGill, who is averaging 25 ppg, pumped in 30 points in a 71-33 drubbing of Saratoga Prospect.

Kristin Mondientz (Sierra, Tollhouse) -- Scored a school record 36 points in a thrilling 63-60 victory over Hanford West.

Eshaya Murphy (Montclair Prep, Van Nuys) -- Poured in 45 points and hauled down 32 rebounds in the Mounties' 70-67 win over Crossroads on Tuesday. She had 34 Wednesday in a 54-47 win over Hillcrest Christian. The junior topped off the week by registering 35 points and 27 boards in a 63-51 win over Whitney on Friday.

Jennae Peoples (Bell-Jeff, Burbank) - -The junior guard went for 22 points and 22 boards in a 51-50 win squeaker over Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Tuesday.

Julia Pitts (North, Torrance) -- Pitts, also one of the state's top 400-meter runners in track, blazed to a total of 38 points in the Saxons' 82-55 win over Leuzinger of Lawndale.

Socorro Reynoso (Chino) -- Knocked down 31 points and brought down 10 rebounds as the Cowgirls clubbed Walnut, 75-33.

Crystal Robinson (Coalinga) -- Established a single game school record by scoring 33 points in 58-43 victory over Templeton.

Skye Stoddard (Granite Hills, El Cajon) -- Skye led the Eagles to a 93-46 blowout victory over Orosi by scoring a game high 31 points.

Liz Sun (Chatsworth) -- In a 71-36 victory over Birmingham of Van Nuys, Sun shined brighly by almost getting a quadruple-double. She finished with 11 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists and nine steals.

Laura Thomas (North, Bakersfield) -- Thomas tied a Central Section record for three pointers in a game with 8 and scored a game high 31 points in 86-22 victory over Highland. She also added 26 points in a win over South.

Natasha Thomas (Morningside, Inglewood) -- Put in 34 points and had 14 rebounds to spark Morningside to a 78-42 win over Leuzinger.

Courtney Warren (Pittsburg) -- Led the Pirates to their 14th win of the season, 84-46 over Clayton Valley of Concord, with 30 points and 11 rebounds.

Candice Wiggins (La Jolla Country Day) -- Upped her scoring average to 27.9 ppg with a pair of 33 point efforts against San Dieguito where she added 16 rebounds, 12 assists and 11 steals and University City where she also had 13 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists.

Ebony Young (Oakland) -- All-State caliber standout knocked down 30 points as the Wildcats beat Alhambra of Martinez, 73-56, at the Acalanes Shootout. Alhambra was just coming off an upset win over Miramonte.
