Player Spotlight: Garrett Green

Interview with Notre Dame HS QB.

We had a chance to chat with Notre Dame HS QB Garrett Green. Last season, the junior QB was 1 of only 7 juniors to be listed on the All CIF Southern Section teams (He was named 2nd team) and was named 1st Team All CIF Division 3. Garrett is sure to be one of the most recruited QBs in the state next year.

PrepCA: You had a terrific junior season. What were your stats last year?

Garrett: As a junior, I threw for 1,716 yards for 15 touchdowns and ran for over 900 yards with 9 scores.

PrepCA: What are you doing to prepare for next season?

Garrett: Thus far in the off-season, I have already dramatically improved my quickness, accuracy, footwork, and knowledge of the game. I routinely throw with my cousin, Brandon Hance (USC quarterback), two to three times a week. My technique and throwing motion have already become more fluid in the time we have spent and I only plan to keep improving. We also break down film of his and my own so I can be more knowledgeable about defensive schemes, pocket presence, and our offensive possibilities to make sure I am prepared for every situation.

PrepCA: Will you be attending any camps this summer?

Garrett: I am definitely planning on attending camps during the off-season. I have options of which I will be going to but haven't made any final decisions at this point.

PrepCA: What is your official height and weight?

Garrett: I am currently 6'2 1/2 and 196 lbs.

What is your best 40, bench, squat and clean?

Garrett: My best 40 time is a 4.48, my bench is 235, my squat is 405 and my clean is 275.

PrepCA: Who is currently recruiting you? Any early offers?

Garrett: At this time, I'm being actively recruited by USC, Nebraska, Texas, Cal, and Arizona.

PrepCA: What can you bring to a D1 program?

Garrett: I can bring a determined work ethic, intelligence, play making ability, and leadership.

PrepCA: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Garrett: The best piece of advice I've ever received is "In order to be a good quarterback, you have to truly be a student of the game."

PrepCA: Who are some Notre Dame players people should watch out for?

Garrett: People should keep their eye on Cary Harris, Rodney Glass, and Shane Horton.

PrepCA: Who is the best player you have ever played against?

Garrett: The best player I have every played against is Jeff Tardy.

PrepCA: What are your goals as far as football is concerned for next year?

Garrett: As always, the ultimate team goal is to win a championship. We went undefeated and won our division. That final game is definitely the high point of the season.

We would like to thank Garrett for his time and wish him luck during his senior season. Anyone wishing to contact Garrett, feel free to email
