Interview with Elk Grove standout runningback Joe Allen

Last season, Elk Grove RB Joe Allen broke on to the scene with a very good junior season. Look for him to improve on his numbers and be one of the more heavily recruited players in California. What were your stats from last season?

Joe: My stats from last year were 168 carries for 1103 yards with 8 catches for 120 yards and 2TDs. What is your greatest football memory?

Joe: My greatest football moment was when we played Vacaville in the first round of the playoffs on my birthday and I scored the game winning two point conversion with no time left. What are your goals for this upcoming season?

Joe: My goals for the next up coming season are to go to Nike camp in Oregon and run a 4.5 40 and bench 185 20 times and I plan on rushing for 1800 yards and 20 TDs. What are you doing to prepare for next season?

Joe: I prepare by staying and living in the weight room 5 times a week and training with a personal trainer. What part of your game are you really trying to improve on?

Joe: I have really worked on my hands to get them softer so I can be more of a threat out of the backfield. Which teammates should we all watch out for next season?

Joe: Ryan Coulson, Jeff Jackson, Kenny Wiggins and Andrew Gardner are teammates you need to look out for. Which teammate do you respect the most and why?

Joe: Jackson because he is such a hard worker and yet he is really good and never speaks a word about himself. What are your goals as far as playing in college?

Joe: I want to start right away in college at the school I attend. Who is currently recruiting you any early offers yet?

Joe: Arizona, Hawaii, Alabama, Boston College, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Kansas, Arizona State but no offers yet. Would you consider playing instate to play?

Joe: Yes I think I would play in state if Fresno State offered me. Which opponent do you respect the most?

Joe: Evan Williams from Vacaville he is just such a great athlete with great speed and vision. Which other high school program do you respect the most?

Joe: I respect Granite Bay because of their winning program. Do you play any other sports?

Joe: I run track. What are your max lifts in the bench, squat and 40 yard dash?

Joe: My max bench is 275 my squat max is 400 and my 40 yard is 4.54. How would your coach describe you as a player?

Joe: Coach would say I was a hard runner who finds an extra gear as I get to sidelines. Who is your favorite professional athlete in any sport?

Joe: Allen Iverson because even though people hate him he always proves them wrong. What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten?

Joe: Live life to the best of your ability by couple of teachers. What can we expect from your team next season?

Joe: I expect that our team can go all the way with a loss or if we get that because we have a great team coming back. What position do you think you will play in college?

Joe: I will play running back in college. Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Joe: My mom she is just the flat out best, I love her to death.
