For the past 18 years, Braunstein has produced and presented "High School Sports Focus"on KICU-TV in San Jose. This show, that he conceived and created, has become the model for high school sports shows across America.
Braunstein has won a variety of awards including an Emmy for Best Sports Feature, he has also been nominated six other times for Emmys and earned eight Associated Press awards and six Radio and Television News Director's Association (RTNDA) awards for excellence in broadcasting.
"After so many years in the broadcasting industry, I demand the best from myself and those around me so it is exciting for me to join Student Sports, which has established itself as the national leader in high school sports in a variety of mediums,"Braunstein said. "I think what has always drawn me to high school sports is the fascinating stories behind each of the student-athletes.
I'm a storyteller and "Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area", as well as other shows to be developed by the new Student Sports television division will use the medium to paint compelling portraits of these often-inspirational boys and girls. I believe that stories combining the excitement of high school sports with the "behind the scenes "human element has tremendous drawing power for regional and national audiences,"concluded Braunstein.
Among the numerous advertisers who have committed to the program are PepsiCo as a title sponsor, Chevron, 24 Hour Fitness, Fremont Hospital, Valley Athletic, and the Reickas Center.
