Player Spotlight with Ryan Coulson

Our next player spotlight comes from the defensive side of the ball. Elk Grove standout linebacker Ryan Coulson. Ryan accounted for over 145 tackles last season, at 6-3 and 225lbs with 4.7 speed, Ryan will easily be a sought after recruit this season. Here's what Ryan had to say. What were your stats from last season?

Ryan: 145 tackles, 3 interceptions, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery, and on 16 receptions for 208 yards. What is your official height, weight, bench, squat and 40 yard dash time?

Ryan: 6-3, 225 weight, 300 bench, 400 squat, and 4.7 40 times. What has been your favorite football moment?

Ryan: My favorite football moment of my career was in my junior year when we played our cross town rival and I played one of my best games ever, I had 19 tackles and an interception for a touchdown. What are your strengths as a football player?

Ryan: My strengths in football would have to be how well I read play's, flow to the ball and also 10 years of experience playing football. What are your goals for this upcoming season?

Ryan: My goals for the upcoming season is to out do all the stuff I have accomplished the year before and to help lead my team to a championship. What are you doing to prepare for next season?

Ryan: I am preparing for the off season work outs with the football team, and when not with the team I am working out on my own and doing a lot of running. Do you play any other sports?

Ryan: I am on the schools wrestling team.. Who is currently recruiting you? Any early offers yet?

Ryan: Colorado, UCLA, and Nebraska. But no offers yet. What can you bring to a college team?

Ryan: Someone who will lead bye example and someone who is reliable. Name one teammate you respect and why?

Ryan: Ricky Carmichael because of his determination to perform at the highest and best level that he can. And I also admire how hard he trains. What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten? Who told you this?

Ryan: "The more I put into it , the more I will get out of it" and "lead, follow, or get out of the way" both from my dad Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Ryan: My family and all of my past coaches. Also the tradition of football in my home town. Will you be attending any camps this summer?

Ryan: Yes, but unsure on which ones. Opposing coaches say you're a sideline to sideline type linebacker, how does that make you feel?

Ryan: That makes me feel good that other coaches give me the respect and I am very grateful of any compliments opposing coaches might say about me. Name one opponent that you really respect.

Ryan: Nevada Union. What are your goals as far as college goes?

Ryan: My goals for football are to hopefully go to a big college and play four years of college football and while getting a college education and as far as going past that point I would be honored to be able to play more years of football. What do you like most about the game of football?
