Player Spotlight: Chris Forni

Interview With Casa Grande QB

Chris Forni QB of Petaluma Casa Grande high school would like to put together a strong senior campaign and take his team to a state championship.  Last year Forni passed for over 1,300 yards as he led his team to an 11-2 record.  Chris had a strong series of workouts on the combine and camp circuit this spring and hopes this will lead to eventual offers.

 

PrepCA: What is your favorite thing about playing high school football?

Chris Forni: Playing ball with my friends on Friday Nights.

 

PrepCA: What is your official height and weight?

Chris Forni: 6'2" 180 lbs.

 

PrepCA: What is your greatest football memory?

Chris Forni: Breaking Casa Grande's single season passing record for most yards as a junior.

 

PrepCA: What are your personal goals for the upcoming season?

Chris Forni: Go undefeated and win the NCS championship.

 

PrepCA:  How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this summer? Have you gone to any combines?  How did you do?

Chris Forni: I work with my trainer Rick Villareal 4 days a week in the weight room, I do speed training and plyometrics with my teammates twice a week, I meet with quarterback Coach Roger Theder 1or 2 times a week. I attended the Cal football camp recently and received MVP at the quarterback Position. I attended the Skills Camp at San Jose State University and ran the fastest shuttle run at 4.22 seconds. I have attended the Nike Combine at Stanford and the EA Sports Elite 11 regionals at Cal Berkeley. I felt confident with my performance at both of these combines. I also participate in basketball open gyms and weekend tournaments for the Casa Grande varsity team. Outside of athletics I have also prepared myself academically as I earned a 3.8 GPA this past semester.    

 

PrepCA: What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?

Chris Forni: I think that I have improved most on my footwork. I consider myself a student of the game and would like to continue learning more about the game of football as well as the position of quarterback.

 

PrepCA:  Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?

Chris Forni: The O-Line of 2005, two time All-State RB Joe Trombetta, OT/DT Ray McClintock, DE/LB George Leschinsky, WR's Frankie Barone & David Gibson, and LB/FB Steven Cade.

 

PrepCA: Name one teammate you really respect and why?

Chris Forni: Offensive Lineman David Regatta, because he has made the biggest turnaround and he has made tremendous strides to better himself in order to get on the field.

 

PrepCA: What are your goals regarding playing football in college?

Chris Forni: I hope to put myself in the best position to continue playing football at the college level and earn a scholarship. My older brother and sister both played college sports that helped them earn their degree; I hope to do the same. 

 

PrepCA: Who is currently recruiting you? Do you have any offers yet? Who are your top 5?

Chris Forni: No offers yet, but I have received a lot of mail from Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, SJSU, Idaho, Sac State, Northwestern. Top 5 is SDSU, Hawaii, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State.

 

PrepCA: Would you consider staying in state to play in college?

Chris Forni: Yes, I love California.

 

PrepCA: Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?

Chris Forni: Myself, I feel like I'm the only one that stops me. I can make or break myself.

 

PrepCA: Name one team who you really respect and why?

Chris Forni: Montgomery HS…They are the defending Champs.

 

PrepCA: What other sports do you play?

Chris Forni: Varsity Basketball

 

PrepCA: What are your best max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40 yard dash?

Chris Forni: Bench: 275, Squat: 435, Power Clean: 235, 40 yd-4.55  (or 4.72 digitally clocked at Nike), Vertical 33".

 

PrepCA: How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?

Chris Forni: Hardworking, dedicated, smart decision maker 

 

PrepCA: Who is your favorite pro athlete and why?

Chris Forni: Brett Favre: He's a warrior

 

PrepCA:  What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? Who did you receive it from?

Chris Forni: Over the years I have received so much good advice, it is hard to just pick out one quote or saying. I am thankful for all the people that have helped me get where I am today.
