Northern California Report 10/2/05

A Look at Top Prep Football Performers

Deonte Washington of Wilson Prep averaged an astounding twenty-four yards a carry on the way to a 360 yard, five touchdown performance in his team's 60 to 6 win over Calvary Temple.  Junior Louis Arnold of O'Dowd is emerging as one of the state's best backs. This week Arnold again makes the list for putting up 270 yards in a win over Castro Valley Oakland High RB Cameron Brown went for over 330 yards and scored four TDs in a losing effort against Piedmont. Two players for Monte Vista had huge games in a win over California High.  Sophomore QB Drew McCallister rushed for eighty yards and threw for 180 while teammate Peter Geurts rushed for 224 yards.  In the last two games Geurts has rushed for over 450 yards combined.

On the defensive side of the ball 6'5 250 Nevada Union DE Andrew Jackson had three sacks as part of the defense shutting out McClatchy 50 to 0.  The Miners are currently 4-0. Senior Bryan Patton had three picks for Justin-Siena in a win over San Rafael.  In one of the biggest games of the weekend Clovis West beat Bullard 24-14.  A big part of holding Bullard to fourteen points was LB Tony Lopes who had two picks in the win.

Player To Watch:

Casa Grande coach Rick O'Brien has to love this one. You have a solid team full of returning seniors but you would like to shore up your O-Line.  So what do you get 6'7 290 pound Indiana transfer Evan Marchal.  With his size Marchal has garnered PAC 10 attention along with attention from many other schools across the nation.  Keep an eye out for this big guy.
