A look at the season thus far.
Angeles City Section Report
Two of the very best backs, not
only in the state of California, but in the nation play in the same
section. Both Stafon Johnson of Dorsey and CJ Gable of Sylmar are considered 5
star recruits. Both of them can
pretty much choose where they want to go to school. Both have a ton of offers from several
of the nation's elite programs. So
what are they doing so far this season?
Stafon is having a good year,
leading the section in rushing to this point in the season. Johnson has had more than 100 yards
rushing in every game so far.
Including, 156 against McClymonds, 185 against Santa Margarita and 177
On the season Johnson stats look like this, 75 carries, 676 yards and 7
TD's. Johnson has also been invited
to play in the US Army All American game.
Not to be outdone, Sylmar's CJ
Gable is currently third in the section in rushing. Gable is also considered an elite
prospect, up to this point he has lived up to his billing. Gable had huge games against Inglewood with 257 yards
and Camino Real with 198 yards on the ground respectively. On the season Gable stats are as follows
54 carries, 625 yards 6 TD's.
So who's second in the section in
rushing? I give you Patrick Hill from Fairfax. Hill is off to a tremendous start to
this season. Hill has been given
the rock 80 times already this season.
He has responded with 659 yards and 6 TD's thus far.
How about the wide outs that are
having standout seasons thus far.
6'4 receiver Francisco
Fernandez from Belmont is an imposing figure on the
field. He has used his height
advantage to post 31 catches for 498 yards 6 TD's on the season. Want a junior
to keep an eye out for? Moses
Gilchrist from Marshall high, this season Moses has caught the
ball 19 times for 463 yards and 6 TD's.
He's averaging 24 yards a catch.
That's hard to do on video games!!
Taking a look at some
quarterbacks, Steven Richart from
Marshall high has had two huge nights with 237
yards against South Gato and 203 yards against
Van Nuys. On the season, Richart
has completed 40 passes out of 63 attempts for 879 yards and 9 touchdowns. Another name to keep an eye out for in
the future, Taft quarterback Exavier
Johnson. Johnson is a 6'3 185
sophomore quarterback. He can play
a little too. At this point in the
season Johnson has completed 42 passes out of 92 attempts for 675 yards with 12
touchdowns. He also has only thrown
1 interception so far. Look for him
to be a big time recruit during the 2008 season.
