Two backs that once again make the list and are indispensable to their teams are Nick Huppe of Del Oro and James Montgomery of Cordova. Huppe put up just under 200 yards in the win over Woodland. Montgomery again went over the 200 yard mark on his way to nearly 250 rush yards in a win over Galt. This is the third week in a row that the Washington commit has approached or gone over the 250 yard mark. Montgomery, now has over 1,000 in just five games. The ground game was big for Elk Grove as Jeff Jackson and Joe Allen combined for 375 rush yards in their team's win over Laguna Creek. Oakland RB Cameron Brown has averaged an astounding 312 yards a game over the last two games, while Deonte Washington of Wilson Prep is averaging 308 yards a game the past two games.
Players To Watch:
Sophomore QB Mike MacGillvray of De La Salle served noticed that he could play with anyone in the nation. MacGillvray scored twice as De La Salle played Mission Viejo the nations #1 team tough losing 26-36.
Another sophomore making a name for himself was Eric Aviles of Lemoore High. This week in the defeat of Redwood, Aviles rushed for 183 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, 6'1 255 pound defensive tackle, junior, Jarrel Farmer on Santa Teresa recorded two sacks Friday as his team shut down the Willow Glen offense.
Senior, Cooper Miller continues to improve as a football player. This past weekend, the 6'5 205 pound WR/DB had five grabs and two picks, one of which he returned for a TD. Previous to last season, Miller was primarily known as a power forward on the Vikings' two time CCS champion basketball team.
