Here is a quick look at some of the top performers in the region. Each performance takes on greater importance as teams wrangle for league titles and the postseason.
*Marc Tyler of Westlake Village Oaks Christian a 6'1 210 pound runner is having a strong junior campaign. The son of former NFL RB Wendell Tyler, has gone over the 200 yard mark the previous two weeks and added another 160 yards in the 56-0 win over Bishop Diego.
*QB Matt Evans of St. Bonaventure was 15 of 19 for over 330 yards and six TDs in the big 60-14 win over previously undefeated Ventura.
*Rio Mesa TB Malachi Lewis rushed for 307 yards and 4 TDs in the win over Oxnard.
*In The San Diego area, junior RB Lester Arnold of undefeated Point Loma is making the most of his limited touches averaging eight yards a carry. The last two weeks in wins over San Diego and Mission Bay he has averaged twelve yards a carry and scored five TDs while sharing carries with seniors Anthony West and Kyle Dietz.
*Junior John Diluigi of Canyon went for over 210 yards rushing in a 49-21 win against Valencia. Senior QB Austin Civita added 242 yards total offense to the cause. Both players will need to have similar performances in the big game next week against Hart for the league title.
*Speaking of Hart, backup Robbie Casselberry rushed for nearly 250 yards in the win over Burbank.
*Otay Ranch RB Deruan Deadwiler averaged over twenty yards a carry on the way to 220 yards rushing in the 55-20 win over Marian Catholic.
*Ramona senior wide receiver Kevin Lloyd had six grabs for 120 yards. His team needed every catch from the 6'3 Lloyd in a tough 17-16 win over San Pasqual.
*Matt Barkley of Mater Dei a 6'2 205 pound freshman (yes freshman) QB is finding his stride. Last week he threw for three TDs in the first half alone. On the season Barkley has over 1,200 yards passing. With this week's win over Loyola the Monarchs have won five in a row.
