Northern California Report

A Look at Top Prep Football Performers

*The Pitman duo of QB Colin Kaepernick and RB Anthony Harding were hitting on all cylinders as Pitman defeated previously unbeaten Golden Valley.  Kaepernick a 6'5 senior threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns.  Senior RB Anthony Harding added 153 yards rushing.  The duo put on their show with San Jose State's offensive coordinator/ quarterback coach Ken Margerum in attendance.  The duo will also travel to Stanford for the Notre Dame game on an unofficial visit.

*Junior RB Brandon Rutley of Alhambra continued his tear as he rushed for 312 yards in a win against Acalanes. A big hunk of the yardage came when Rutley took off ninety-nine yards for a score.  The junior is becoming a regular in the Northern California report.  We will have an interview with him later this week on the website.

*Senior Andrew Jackson continues to lead the stout Nevada Union D.  The squad is giving up just over a touchdown a game.  This week, in the first loss of the season to Granite Bay, Jackson recorded 2 sacks in a tough 20 to 22 game.  The 6'5 250 DE/TE is garnering attention from across the nation and not only leads on the field but also is one of the top students in the school.

*Jeremy Ross had 260 total yards of offense as Laguna Creek defeated Folsum.  The 6'0 190 pound Ross is one of the most well rounded players in the region.  He averages over ten yards a carry and has also caught over thirty passes.

*Nick Huppe continues his tremendous season for Del Oro.  Huppe scored four TDs in the win over Natomas.  The senior has done about everything except lead the band at halftime this season.  He leads the team and rushing and TDs.  He is also the team's field goal kicker.  Currently Del Oro is 9-0.

*Nick Nugent of Elk Grove is maturing into one of the Delta leagues top defensive impacts players.  The 6'0 205 pound junior LB seems to always be around the ball. Thus far, he has three sacks, one pick and three fumbles recovered.  His play is a big part of the Thundering Herd's current six game win streak.

*Cardinal Newman QB Ryan Lingle was accurate this past weekend going 15 of 17 for 220 yards and three TDs in his team's win over Ranch Cotate.

*A sophomore to watch is David Henderson of Lincoln.  This past weekend, he exploded in Lincoln's win over Washington.  Henderson made plays is every fashion as he scored four TDs including a punt return and kickoff return for scores.

*A quick alumni update on Willie Tuitama.  This time last year, Tuitama was leading St. Mary's of Stockton to a 13-1 season, now the UofA freshman has given up his redshirt and brought life to the Arizona offense.  This past weekend in the huge 52-14 upset over previously unbeaten UCLA, Tuitama was 14 of 24 for 204 yards with two touchdowns and no picks.
