News and Notes on Prep Football

This week had a ton of big games and great performances with league titles and playoffs on the line.

*Darrell Catchings of Escondido High School, put on a show Friday in the win over San Pasqual.  The junior scored three times in three ways.  He returned a kickoff, punt and caught a pass all for scores.

*Wes Davis of Steel Canyon had three picks in the win over Mount Miguel.  The 6'2 200 pound senior is headed to Boston College to play safety next year.

*Garen Demery of Valhalla rushed for 210 yards and three TDs helping his team to victory over Granite Hills. For the season, Demery has rushed over 2,000 yards and scored 30 touchdowns.

*Crespi blasted St.Bernard 49-7 behind the running of 10th grader Austin Shanks.  Shanks rushed for three scores and over 190 yards.

*Audarrius Bailey of Arcadia went big posting close to 300 yards of total offense and scoring five TDs as his squad bested Crescenta Valley 42-7.

*Junior John Diluigi of the Canyon Cowboys is having a monster season.  Thursday versus Hart he posted over 200 yards total offense in the hard fought 16-14 win for the Foothill League crown.  For the season, he has scored 37 touchdowns and put well over 2,000 combined rush, receiving and return yards.

*Moorpark was able to win its first Marmonte title in part due to the emergence of two sophomore playmakers.  RB Darrell Scott has rushed for over 1,300 yards while QB Adam Barry has over 1,000 yards of run/pass yardage.

*Ventura WR Robbie Leith should continue to gain more national D1 attention.  His recent nine catch 250+ yard performance raises his season total to fifty-five grabs.

*Give it up to San Clemente, the Tritons gave powerhouse Mission Viejo all they wanted, holding the Diablos to one score and under 300 yards total offense.
