In the past two seasons at South Hills, Tobi Umodu has registered thirty-four sacks. During this season, Tobi was a mainstay of a South Hills defense that gave up sixteen points a game on the way to a section title. Tobi committed early to UCLA and will formally sign with the Bruins tomorrow at a ceremony at his school. PrepCA was able to talk with Tobi about his decision to go with UCLA.
PrepCA: What set UCLA above the other schools that recruited you?
Tobi Umodu: I have always liked and I have always followed UCLA. I like the clean open campus, good tutoring, it is all there for you.
PrepCA: What position are you going to play at UCLA?
Tobi Umodu: I will be playing outside backer.
PrepCA: How do you think you will transition from playing on the line and going after the QB to playing backer out in space?
Tobi Umodu: In the California Florida All Star game I played outside linebacker and got used to playing in space with my hand off the ground.
PrepCA: What do you bring to the UCLA football program?
Tobi Umodu: I just keep going and I go after the ball every play. I'm a good tackler that makes the play.
PrepCA: What do you think it will be like to play for coach Dorrell at UCLA?
Tobi Umodu: He is a good coach. He keeps calm and keeps everything moving smoothly.
PrepCA would like to thank Tobi for all of his help this season and wish him the best of luck as he prepares for college and D1 football.
