Loyola's DB Chris Conte and company travel to Thousand Oaks this Friday...

Loyola Cubs (Los Angeles, Ca.) (10 – 4 , Division 1 Champions with a 49-42 win over Esperanza (Anaheim, CA) @ Thousand Oaks Lancers (Thousand Oaks, Ca.) (8 – 3, lost in round 1 of D-4 Playoffs)

When: September 8, 2006, 7:00pm

Head Coaches:

Thousand Oaks: Mike Sanders

Loyola: Jeff Kearin

These Teams have not played each other; therefore it could be an interesting coaching adjustment duel.  It will be a very good experience for Thousand Oaks as this is an opponent that will make them better.  Loyola will benefit by seeing Ryan Cloney & Taylor Malm early.

Lost Players:

Thousand Oaks lost key playmakers to graduation including #1 Receiver WR Matt Luft who was also #1 in Scoring,  #1 Rusher RB Spencer Scotti, #3 Rec Mark Brown, , #1 Tackler  LB Tony D'ascenzo, #2 Tackler Robert Fielding, #2 Sack Courtney Robinson, #1 Ints Drew Christian and #3 tackles with 3 Ints Billy Dilucchio.  This is quite a group to lose.

Loyola lost QB Henry Burge, #1 Rusher, #3 Rec & #3 Scorer Chad Peppars , #1 Receiver & #1 Scorer Marcus Lawrence, #2 Receiver Taylor Joseph, #2 Rusher Russell Oka, #3 Scorer Adam Stout, #1 Tackler Ramon Estrada and #2 Tackler Nicholas Bertole

Returning Stars:

Thousand Oaks returns 6'2" 180 QB Ryan Cloney who put up outstanding numbers last year, 158 completions on 232 throws (68% completions) for 2514 with 8 picks & 23 tds.  #2 rusher, #2 receiver, #2 Scorer, 5'10" 195 WR/DB Taylor Malm.  Taylor caught 41 balls for 585 yards (14 yard avg.) and  5 Tds, while running 38 times for 251 yards ( 6.6 yard avg)  and 5 more tds.  They bring back a Big experienced line lead by 6'5" 285 Dan Pinsky, 6'3" 270 Djuan Yates, 6'2" 270 Jordan Allred & 6'1" 260 Brandon Hammond.  Receivers are all new, so Ryan & Taylor, have their work cut out for them against this Division I Loyola Team, but this line should give them some time.  This excellent TO coaching staff will have this team ready to battle

Loyola returns 3 QB's -6'1" 193 Ryan Nelson, 6'5" 175 Kelly Obrien and a new 6'1" 185 QB Conor Hearn.  The WR include 6'2" 175,  WR James Stathatos and a new 6'3" 180 WR Ryan Holmes among other receivers to get the ball. The Cubs also bring back leading Scorer K Joseph MacMillan with 12 field goals last year.  The line is anchored by 6'5" 320 Stephen Shipman, 6'4" 268 Stefan Datuin and should be powerful.

Loyola has a very large squad and often time's seniors are the playmakers but they have many playmakers in training that we do not see until others graduate.  The Loyola coaching staff does a great job of getting this team ready every week and each year
