Returning Stars:

Notre Dame brings back #1 Rec & #3 in All Purpose yards 6'2" 205 WR Shane Horton.  Shane had 32 catches for 608 yards (19 yd avg) 4 tds, #3 Rusher 6'0" 180 RB Thaddeus Brown with 57 runs for 297 yards (5 yard avg) 5 tds and 7 receptions for 63 yards (9 yd avg) 4 tds, #3 Rec 6'5" 215 WR Mike Stanton with 8 receptions 219 yards (27 yd avg) 1 td and returning Backup QB and #2 Passer 6'5" 224 Junior Dayne Crist.  Dayne is a Division I prospect.  He just hasn't been seen because of Garrett.  His brief numbers show good decision making, they are 25 completions in 50 attempts (50%) for 386 yards, 3 tds and no picks, along with 28 runs for 168 yards (6 yd avg.).  Dayne will have a nice solid line to work behind lead by 6'5" 304 Charlie Carmichael & 6'6" 273 Sam Demartinis, 6'2" 260 Orlandon Sweeney.  These guys are always ready to rumble and have gotten a chance to peak at Canyon's schemes for 2006, because of the game played last week.

Canyon brings Division I prospect, 5'9" 174 RB John Diluigi, who I called "Mr. Universe" last week.  I did because in 2005 he was #1 Rusher with 261 carries for 1870 yards, a 7 yard average, with 36 tds, #3 in receptions with 33 for 579 yds, a 15 yard average and 6 more tds.  Diluigi was #1 in "All Purpose" yards with a 207 yards per game average.  John was, also, the #1 scorer and #1 KO Returner.  I said that 6'3" 186 QB Ben Longshore has shown last year and in passing leagues 2006, that he has the potential to continue his good decision.  Longshore was 10/19 for 263 yards, 53% completions with 2 tds and 0 Ints.  It's a small picture, of Longshore, but you can see some very good potential for an exciting night of football.  Longshore will have, now his, big time threat 5'6" 160 Christopher Kingsbury, the #2 receiver from last year.  Kingsbury caught 34 for 664, a 19 yard avg and 6 tds, along with being #2 in all purpose yards with 14 avg on punt returns and #1 (tie) in Interceptions in 2005.  Canyon returns a moderate sized, but experienced & tenacious, Line to the game, as is exhibited by 5'10" 182 Ben Armbruster, #1 in sacks with 10.  This team has played its first game of 2006 and beat Moorpark High School in a close one.  Here are the playmakers that performed in that game, which may our picture into this years team.

Last Weeks Game playmaker stats: Diluigi was 16 for 148 rushing, 3 for 81 receiving and 2 for 51 on Kick off returns.  Ben Longshore got his feet wet against this tough defense.  Ben hit 11/17, with 2 picks, 1 TD, with a net -20 yard rushing and a TD.  5'10" 170 Junior WR Mark Urbana had 6 catches for 70 yards.  WR Steve Wirthlin has a 25 yard touchdown catch.  This Notre Dame team is serious about punishment so Canyon will have to step up a notch or two and eliminate the two Interceptions, for this game.
