These two teams played last year with Nordoff winning 34- 17.  Nordhoff showcased Seniors Tyler Whitcomb with 20 runs for 163 yards and a reception for 25 yards, along with Casey Catlett who had 15 carries for 85 yards and 10 Tackles.  Both of these playmakers are gone now and new ones will have to develop.  Santa Ynez countered with Junior Billy Peters (he returns this year) who completed 9 balls in 18 attempts for 119 yards and a td, along with Nick Rivera with 6 runs for 64 yards and 3 catches for 31 yards.  Returning Billy Peters is going to be an impact player this year.

Returning & New Playmakers:

Santa Ynez performed well last week with 34 runs for 163 yards and completed 12 for 24 attempts with 169 yards and 2 tds.  Their playmakers were the returning 6'1"180 QB Billy Peters who had 12 completions in 22 throws for 169 yards & 2tds, along with 6 tackles.  Billy was 107 of 215 (50%) for 1906 yards with 14tds and 4 ints, with 46 runs for negative yards (-244 yards).  Returning 5'8" 155 WR Kyle McQuitty had 6 runs for 36 yards and 3 catches for 29 yards, last week.  Last year, Kyle had 16 catches for 266 yards (16.6 avg) 2tds and 19 runs for 77 yards (4 avg.), along with 60 Tackles and 3 ints.  5'10" 182 RB Justin Iniguez had 15 runs for 94 yards and 2 catches for 34 yards against Paso Robles.  5'11" 215 FB Zack Andrews ran 9 times for 24 yards and caught 2 for 20 yards.  6'2" 226 TE Adam Johansen had 2 catches for 57 yards.  Also returning from last year is 5'11" 205 RB Brad Petersen who last year had 67 runs for 258 yards (3.8 avg.) 3 tds., with 10 catches for 75 yards (7.5 avg) and 1 td.  Santa Ynez has a bunch of tacklers from the Paso Robles game including 5'6" 128 DB Kevin Crowell  (6T),  6'0" 170 DB Jeff Rosecrance (5T), 5'7" 180 LB Casey Harris (5T), 6'0" 240 DL Enrique Deleon  (4T, SK & FR), 6'4" 260 T Riley Gauld  (4T & SK), 5'11" 150 LB Peter Salter (4T).  The line is big and should provide 4th quarter problems for any team and they include 6'2" 295 T Brandon Ralston, 6'3" 285 C John Goodie, Riley Gauld, 6'0" 260 Mike Morgan.

Nordhoff played a very good St. Joseph team last week and ran 34 times for 104 yards and threw 15 times with 9 completions for 80 yards and a td and Int in their loss.  They return 6'1" 170 QB Garrett Graham who last week completed 9 throws for 15 yards (60%) for 80 yards 1td & 1 int.  Garrett also punted for a 39 yard avg with a long of 52.  Graham did a nice job of starting with improvement on his last year production when he was 46 for 94 (.489) 650 yards 7int 4td.  This returning QB led his team well.  5'8" 185 returning RB Damian Kaiser last week had 15 runs for 47 yards (3.13 avg).  In 2005 Damian had 54 runs for 242 yards (4.5avg) 2 tds and 92 Tackles.  Returning 6'3" 190 WR Aaron Rodriguez last week had 3 catches for 20 yards (6.67 avg) and 6 Tackles from his DB spot.  In 2005 Aaron had 30 catches for 379 yards (12.6 avg.) & 3 tds.  Last weeks new playmakers brought 6'2" 205 RB Austin Johnsen with 11 runs for 48 yards (4.4 avg.) along with 1 catch for 5 yards, 9 Tackles a Sack and a Fumble Recovery.  5'1" 160 WR Albert Mireles also had a nice game with 4 catches for 46 yards and a td.  5'11" LB also had 7 tackles last week.  Nordhoff's line will be asked to step up this year, as it has moderate size with 6'3" 260 and Dan Smith & 6'4" 245 Dan O'Brien (5 tackles last week) as the anchors.
