SDPrep: What were your stats from last season?

Mouritzen: 11.5 pts/game; 47 % field goal; 38% 3 pt. Baskets (1st in league, 3rd in cnty.); 80% Free throws

Other:  6 rebounds /game; 2 assists/game;2 steals/game

SDPrep:  What is your official height and weight?
Mouritzen: 5'8", 130 lbs.

SDPrep:  What is your greatest basketball memory?

Mouritzen: My greatest basketball memory was last year at our game against Mater Dei in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona. It was a close game when the rest of our starters fouled out of the game in overtime. I led my team with 28 points and made 17 out of 18 freethrows. My team won the game in double-overtime.

SDPrep:  What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Mouritzen: My goals for this season are to help lead my team to win the Coastal South League, and to be a consistent defensive and offensive player, while continuing to be a leader on my team.

SDPrep:  What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?

Mouritzen: I have put in a lot of work to get faster and stronger, which will help especially on defense and rebounding. Also, I have continued to make improvements in my shooting.

SDPrep:  Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?

Mouritzen: Adelle Walton is a consistent player who is our point guard and is a key defender, but can also hit outside shots. Also, Ali Pia puts in a lot of work for us in the post and is our leader in rebounds.

SDPrep:  Name one teammate you really respect and why?

Mouritzen: Leela Harpur is a teammate I respect for her positive attitude and pumping the team up.


SDPrep:  Tell us about Coach Wright. 

Mouritzen: Coach Wright is Parker's new head coach, after being our assistant coach the last two years. She is an excellent teacher with in depth knowledge and experience in women's basketball.  She has played both college basketball at San Diego State and professionally in Germany.  She also coached club basketball for a long time..  She is the major part of the team that holds us all together and can easily help us reach our goals.


SDPrep:  How different are his practices compared to last years coach.

Mouritzen: Coach Wright's teaching style is more assertive and fundamentally based. We seem to work harder and get more into our practices everyday.  She teaches us to think more in different situations and play beyond our set plays.  She's giving us a greater knowledge of the over all game.

SDPrep:  What are your goals regarding playing college basketball?

Mouritzen: I would like to play basketball at reputable college. This way I will be able to have fun playing basketball and get a good education at the same time.

SDPrep:  Will you consider staying in state to play in college?

Mouritzen: Staying in California is definitely a possibility for me. I am currently looking at both out of state and in state.


SDPrep:  What are your top 5 college choices?

Mouritzen: The top 5 schools I am interested in are Santa Clara University, Colgate University, Cornell University, Pepperdine University, and the University of Chicago.

SDPrep:  What will be the top 3 reasons in selecting a college?

Mouritzen: My top 3 reasons would be 1. type of education 2. basketball program 3. location.


SDPrep:   Do you know what you will major in?  Why?

Mouritzen: I have not decided what I would like to major in yet.

SDPrep:  Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?

Mouritzen: I remember playing Latoya Cunningham my freshman year. I really respected her game because she carried her team well. She was a huge offensive threat and probably the best defensive player on the court.

SDPrep:  Name one opponent who you really respect and why?

Mouritzen: I really respect Cheyenne Curley-Payne. She is great player offensively and defensively. She plays with confidence and controls the tempo of the game.

SDPrep:  What Club Basketball team do you player for in the Spring and Summer?

Mouritzen: I will be playing for One Shot Deal.

SDPrep:  How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?

Mouritzen: My coach would say that I'm consistent player on offense and defense. Also, that I'm a strong threat from the outside and am a team leader.

SDPrep:  What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?

Mouritzen: My strengths are my outside shot and defense. I would like to continue working on my footwork.


SDPrep:  Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Mouritzen: My favorite athlete is Steve Nash. He is a team player who never gives up.


SDPrep:  What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Mouritzen: To play every game like it was your last and give everything you, because in the end you'll have nothing to lose.

SDPrep:  Tell us what can we expect from your team this season?

Mouritzen: Our team plays together very well and have offensive threats from all other the floor and we are a strong defensive team as a whole.

SDPrep:  What position do you think you will play at the next level?

Mouritzen: I will most likely play the 2-guard.

SDPrep:  What can a basketball program expect from you as a player?

Mouritzen: They can expect me to work hard and give them everything I have to offer.


SDPrep:  Tell us about your day to day workouts during the off-season. 

Mouritzen: In the off season I work with a personal trainer every other day to improve my strength and conditioning.  I also get in the gym everyday and work on my shooting, ball handling and foot work.


SDPrep:   What was the last book you read?

Mouritzen: The last book I read Walden by Thoreau.


SDPrep:   What was the latest movie you saw?

Mouritzen: James Bond: Casino Real


SDPrep:  What is your all time favorite movie?
Mouritzen: Love & Basketball
