The Pac-5 semifinals shift to the Home Depot Center with Servite and Crespi meeting in the first semifinal in a matchup of two Catholic powerhouses with connections. Servite coach Troy Thomas will face his former school and alma mater, Crespi, where he coached before coming to Anaheim. Crespi advanced after beating Mater Dei in the quarterfinals, the same Mater Dei team who beat Servite two weeks before.
In the other Pac-5 semifinal is a rematch of last year's memorable semifinal, where Orange Lutheran held off a late Long Beach Poly rally to move on to the Pac-5 title, which they would later win and eventually take the D-II state bowl game. This time, the Jackrabbits are the higher seed and are looking for payback.
In the Inland Division, Corona Cenntennial is the favorite to land in the D-I state bowl game and will also be looking for revenge when they host Chaparral of Temecula, the same school to end their season last year. Redlands East Valley will face Corona Santiago in the other semifinal after the Sharks upset Vista Murrieta.
The Western Division playoffs saw top-seeded Culver City fall to St. Paul's who will face Gahr of Cerritos on Saturday. Palmdale will visit two-time champion Dominguez of Compton on Friday night.
In the Northern Division, top-seed St. Bonaventure of Ventura will welcome Saugus on Saturday night while Newbury Park visits second-seeded Hart on Friday.
The Central Division playoffs has a hot Colton team visiting Canyon Springs of Moreno Valley in one semifinal while defending champion Colony of Ontario will visit Moreno Valley in the other.
Valencia of Placentia will visit Cypress in one Southern Division playoff while Garden Grove Pacifica will travel to La Palma Kennedy in the other semifinal on Saturday.
The Southwest Division semifinals will have Charter Oak of Covina hosting Trabuco Hills on Friday night and Placentia El Dorado visiting Covina South Hills in the other semifinal on Saturday.
In the Southeast Division semifinals, Fullerton will visit Montebello Schurr on Friday night while La Habra will host California HS of Whittier on Saturday.
Oaks Christian is aiming for their fifth straight section title and in their way is rival Oak Park, who already beat the Lions once this year. In the other semifinal, St. Bernard of Playa Del Rey, fresh off an upset of top-seed Morro Bay will vist Ojai Nordhoff.
In the Eastern Division playoffs, Riverside will have a battle of two city schools with defending champion J.W. North hosting ML King on Friday night. Farther east, Palm Desert will visit Palm Springs on Saturday night.
The East Valley Division will see Riverside Notre Dame trip to San Jacinto on Friday night and Bishop Union travel to Perris Citrus Hill on Saturday
In the Mid-Valley Division, second-seeded Santa Clara will welcome Valley Christian of Cerritos on Friday night while top-seeded Paraclete will travel to Santa Barbara on Saturday night to take on Bishop Diego.
The Northeast Division will see Harry Welch try to win his third straight section title, but his first at St. Margarets when they host Calvary Murrieta on Saturday evening. The night before, Brentwood will host Saddleback Valley Christian.
