They're in: Who's been added to state record book?

It's not a long list, but there are several 2002 football players who have joined the thousands of names in the Cal Hi Sports state record book.Note: 2002 Single Game Highs (see bottom of lead page) have been updated today (Nov. 1) as well. Sergio Aguayo (San Jacinto) for longest field goal.

Rudy Carpenter (Newbury Park) for most passing yards in a game, most passing attempts in a game, most completions in a game.

Dustin Croick (Agoura) for most passing yards in a game.

Matt Engle (El Segundo) for most passing yards in a game, most career TD passes. Note: Once we get more exact career yardage totals, we'll add Matt to all-time career state list in that category, too.

Bryan Huston (Agoura) for most receiving yards in a game.

Whitney Lewis (St. Bonaventure, Ventura) for career TD catches. Note: The state record has been determined to be 66 by Earvin Johnson of L.A. Cathedral and not 53. In our previous list and in the CIF Southern Section lists, Johnson's senior season in 2000 (he had 13 more TD catches in 12 games) was not included.

Terry Mermer (Calvary Chapel, Santa Ana) for passing yards in a game.

Desmond Reed (Temple City) for most career interceptions.

John Taylor (Mt. Whitney, Visalia) for most TD catches in a game.

Sebastian Valencia (Riverdale) for most rushing yards in a game.

Kyle Wright (Monte Vista, Danville) for best perfect passing totals in a game.

Team records involving De La Salle and Hart have been updated as well.
