Week Two's "Stars Of Friday Night"

The second full week of the season took place last weekend and several Golden State standouts had fine performances. Here are week one's "Stars of Friday Night," GoldenStatePreps.com's weekly look at the California high school football standouts...

*Joe Southwick threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns, and completed a pass for a first down on the game-winning on 4th-and-8, to lead San Ramon Valley to a come-from-behind 38-34 win over San Leandro.

*Danville Monte Vista receiver Tom Hemmingsen caught nine passes for 230 yards, including a 27-yarder to set up Monte Vista's game-winning field goal, which Brendan Garcia kicked to lead them to a 32-29 win over Pittsburg.

*Jeffrey Taylor of Cantwell Sacred Heart had three touchdowns through the air (26 yards, 56 yards and 80 yards), 12 tackles and two sacks in their 55-0 rout of La Puente Bassett.

*In a collective team effort, San Jose Bellarmine Prep got touchdowns from Michael Clay, Usua Amanam, Kyle Olugbode and a pair from Austyn Carta-Samuels to lead the Bells to a 35-6 rout of Stockton St. Mary's.

*Adrian Pacheco scored three touchdowns on 17 carries for 199 yards to lead Selma to a 49-6 win over Fresno McClane.

*Charter Oak cruised to a 62-13 win over Diamond Bar, thanks to Adam Muema's 246 yards on 18 carries and A.J. Powell added two picks and a 95-yard kickoff return.  Chris Allen was 11-for-13 for 193 yards and three touchdowns.

*David Fales threw four touchdowns passes to help Salinas Palma cruise to a 44-3 win over Redwood City.

*Arthur Burns scored four touchdowns on 246 yards rushing, Ricky Marvray returned a kickoff 95-yards and overcame 422 yards passing by Matt Barkley to give the Huskies a 47-35 win over Mater Dei.

*Josh Nunes was 13-for-19 for 143 yards and three touchdowns and Davion Fleming ran for 173 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns to help Upland to a 37-21 win over Phelan Serrano.

*Behind the running of Melvin Richardson, Long Beach Poly routed Newport Harbor, 26-2.  Richardson ran for 166 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns

*Caleb Herring threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns on 18-of-26 passing to steer Perris Citrus Hill past Temecula Great Oak, 40-14.

*Chris Metcalf had two interceptions to lead a stout Compton defense to a 12-8 win over Compton Dominguez, the Tarbabes first win against the Dons since 1986.

*Los Alamitos quarterback Clark Evans threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 66 yards and a score, with Darryl Jenkins his favorite target, hitting him for 115 yards and three touchdown passes in Los Alamitos' 48-0 win over Fremont.

*Woodland Hills Taft running back D.J. Morgan celebrated a week in which he committed to USC, by scoring three touchdowns in Taft's 49-19 win over Westchester.

*Crespi's Bryan Bennett was 11-of-21 for 261 yards and two touchdowns and receiver Kevin Cummings scored two touchdowns, one through the air and the other on a 31-yard interception and the Celts continued their mastery of Servite with a 21-20 win.

*Saugus' Desi Rodriguez scored three touchdowns and had 375 all-purpose yards in Saugus' 42-40 win over Westlake.

*Dietrich Riley of La Canada St. Francis rushed for 212 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to let the Knights run to a 27-13 win over Crescenta Valley.

*Thousand Oaks running back John Lister set a school record by rushing for 298 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns to help the Lancers cruise to a 28-6 win over Buena.

*Cameron Marshall ran for 227 yards and four touchdowns, including a 65-yarder and a 46-yarder to give San Jose Valley Christian an easy 41-7 win over Menlo-Atherton.

*Merced running back Stephon Mathis tallied 178 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in the Bears 31-17 win over Napa.

*Folsom quarterback David Graves was 22-of-29 passes for 284 yards and threw five touchdowns while adding a 44-yard touchdown run to lead the Bulldogs to a 46-22 win over El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge.

*Sacramento Christian Brothers running back Josh Tucker ran for an eye-popping 328 yards and three scores in a 40-25 win over San Joaquin Memorial in Fresno.

*Robbie Picazo threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns and Brett Gudim caught six passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns while Seth Davis ran for 93 yards on nine carries as Tesoro cruised to a 51-7 win over El Modena.

*Huntington Beach Edison quarterback Matt Viles completed 13 of 20 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, receiver Jeff Crissman had three catches for 99 yards, one a 53-yard score and Edison rolled to a 48-20 win over Dana Hills.  Dolphins quarterback Sean Schroeder was 17-for-29 for 279 yards and a pair of touchdown passes.  Dylan Danso caught eight of them for 231 yards and a pair of scores.

*Helix got a balanced night from their offense, getting 15-of-25 passing from Ty Culver for 261 yards and a score, 127 yards and three scores from Paul Blakeney, 98 yards receiving from Travon Van and 57 yards receiving for Levine Toililo to get an easy 35-14 win over Carlsbad.

*Oceanside quarterback Jordan Wynn was solid all night, going 19-for-24 for 356 yards and four touchdown passes in the Pirates' 42-24 win over Mira  Mesa.

*Westlake Village Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones rushed for 130 yards on 15 carries and reached the end zone three times while quarterback Nick Montana was 10-of-19 for 196 yards and three touchdown passes in the Lions' 48-6 win over Diamond Ranch.

*Escondido Valley Center receiver James Johnson caught seven passes for 131 yards and a score and ran once for a 31-yard touchdown to help Valley Center down Brawley, 28-24.

*Cierre Wood rushed for 259 yards and three scores and Svondo Bradley added three touchdowns of his own, including a 19-yard pick-six to give Santa Clara a 35-7 win over Channel Islands.

*Santa Margarita quarterback Ryan World tied a school record held by Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer, when he finished 24-of-36 for 333 yards with a record-tying five touchdowns. Logan Sweet had 75 yards and a score and Gavin Escobar added 74 yards and a touchdown.

*St. John Bosco quarterback Keith Price was 13-for-16 for 287 yards and three touchdowns to give the Braves a big cushion in an eventual 34-0 rout of La Verne Damien.

*Mission Viejo quarterback Allan Bridgford had another solid performance, going 17-for-29 for 221 yards and three touchdowns, two to Kevin Chandler and one to Alex Mascarenas in a 38-14 win over La Costa Canyon.  Mascarenas also made his presence felt on defense, picking off a pair of passes.

*San Diego Scripps Ranch running back Brennan Clay ran for 206 yards on 20 carries and scored a touchdown, Tate Forcier was 16-for-29 for 234 yards and a touchdown pass and J.T. Kerr caught it, amongst his five receptions for 64 yards to give Scripps Ranch a 17-10 win over West Hills.

*In Palos Verdes Peninusla Chadwick's win over Lynwood Firebaugh, Trevor Niemann had four catches for 178 yards and three touchdowns and added a punt return for a touchdown in the 63-26 win.
