Week Three's "Stars Of Friday Night"

The third full week of the season took place last weekend and several Golden State standouts had fine performances. Here are week three's "Stars of Friday Night," GoldenStatePreps.com's weekly look at the California high school football standouts...

*Stockton St. Mary's receiver/safety Josh Harper had a big night, running for 120 yards and tallying 212 receiving yards and scoring four touchdowns while also picking off a pass in St. Mary's win over Los Banos and earning GoldenStatePreps.com Player of the Week honors.

*Woodland Hills Taft D.J. Morgan rushes 12 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns in the Toreadors win over Lancaster 

*Sherman Oaks Notre Dame receiver James Flynn had only three catches but two went for touchdowns and he had 111 yards in the Knights win over Birmingham.

*James Boyd of Los Angeles Jordan set a state record for passing attempts, attempting 73 passes, completing 38 of them for 409 yards in their loss to Mater Dei.

*Patrone Wood had 179 yards and scored on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter to lead Ygnacio Valley to a 14-7 win over Hayward.

*Vista Murrieta running back Bradley Randle ran for 195 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead VM to a surprising win over Los Osos.

*San Leandro quarterback Travis Gardner had  a big game in a loss to California HS, going 26-for-34 for 352 yards and two touchdowns.  For CalHigh, Bo Stompro was 9-for-12 for 187 yards and three touchdowns, with Nick Zwarg catching four passes for 137 yards and the three scores.  Leroy Green ran for 159 yards and a touchdown.

*Willow Glen quarterback only threw 13 passes, and only completed nine of them, but five of them went for touchdowns and he added 198 yards in their win over Del Mar.

*Chris Labouff ran for four touchdowns, all 1-yard scores, and had 92 yards rushing in Los Gatos' win over Independence.

*Fresno Edison's big three of Rolando Jefferson, T.J. McDonald and Cliff Harris all had a big night in their win over Merced, but it was running back Marquise Cooper who made a big impression.  Cooper ran for 123 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown, and chipped in 12 tackles in the Edison victory.  Cliff Harris had a 50-yard pick-six, Jefferson had two touchdown receptions and McDonald anchored a stingy Edison defense.

*Gilroy quarterback Jamie Jensen was 14-for-27 for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead Gilroy to a 31-10 win over Palo Alto.

*Tulare Union running back Jontell Reedom was a huge factor all night in there 60-30 win over Mt. Whitney.  Reedom ran for an eye-popping 336 yards and scored five touchdowns.

*Corona Centennial cruised to an easy 42-7 win over Fresno Clovis West and quarterback Taylor Martinez did his part, throwing for 299 yards and five touchdowns in the win.

*Not to be outdone, Corona running back Jordan James rushed for 391 yards on 30 carries and reached paydirt four times to help Corona beat Chino.

*Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones ran for 178 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns and quarterback Nick Montana was 11-for-19 for 242 yards and two scores in the Lions rout of Chaminade.

*Corona Santiago quarterback Brandon Connette was 7-of-10 passing for 158 yards with four touchdown passes and rushed for 83 yards in their win over Temescal Canyon.
