No division will have a bigger impact than the Pac-5, where the top candidate from the Open Division, Long Beach Poly, and D-II, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, are gearing towards a potential state berth. The Pac-5 is loaded from top to bottom and should be the most entertaining in the Southern Section.
Meanwhile, several other divisions figure to be just as entertaining, and impacting in the state bowl games, where Corona Centennial is the favorite for the D-I game, though if Poly falters, could find themselves in the mix for the open division. St. Bonaventure is hoping for a return trip to the state D-III game and is the top seed in the Northern Division.
The Northwest Division is also setting up for a clash of the titans between Oaks Christian, the defending champs as usual, and unbeaten Gardena Serra.
Here are the Southern Section brackets for the 2008 playoffs.
