With David Graves choosing to go to Hawaii to play football Nevada was left with an important position to fill. Many of the QB's in the Sacramento area were looked at to fill the vacancy at Nevada. They picked Mason Magelby (Wearing #4 above) of Del Oro High School to fill the position. Magleby passed for 1,863 yards, 10 touchdowns and ran for 636 yards. I watched Mason play his last prep game at the KCRA 3 Holiday Classic Sac Joaquin Section North vs. South. He threw and ran circles around the defense. He split QB duties with David Graves and shut out the South team.
Magleby had interest from Idaho State, Sacramento, Eastern Washington and Montana State.
What's even more intriguing than watching these two play on the same team, is knowing that they may compete against each other in the future. As expressed in many of the prep blogs that follow these two QB's is that some day in the future it may be Hawaii's Graves taking on Nevada's Magleby for the Western Atlantic Conference (WAC) title
This goes to show how strong the QB pool is in the Sacramento area. There's still a few QB's from the Sacramento area who haven't committed yet, such as pro style Trevor Mew and my personal favorite, dual threat Adam Kennedy.
Check out Magleby in the action photos below – simply incredible. He'll do well at Nevada.
