Manny Austin (Dos Palos): Pumped in 40 pts in a 85-55 losing cause vs. Kings Christian of Lemoore, which is second-best in school history behind a game from 1957.
Alex Banks (Cathedral, Los Angeles): Scored 32 pts including seven thee-pt shots, in starring against Mary Star of San Pedro during a 70-64 win.
Jerrod Boswell (El Capitan, Lakeside): Big-time 7-foot center threw down 32 pts and added 21 rebounds plus six blocks as the Vaqueros clubbed El Cajon Valley, 71-52.
Ruben Boykin (University, Los Angeles): Our State Athlete of the Week for Jan. 5-11 was at it again last week, this time for 34 pts and 17 rebounds as Unihi got by Los Angeles 54-51.
Jacob Briggs (Village Christian, Sun Valley): Canned 33 pts and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 84-72 victory over Paraclete of Lancaster.
David Burgess (Woodbridge, Irvine): The 6-10 junior had 30 pts and 18 rebounds in leading his team over crosstown rival Northwood, 71-53.
Casey Curran (Benicia): Led team to a 69-60 win over Hogan of Vallejo with 35 pts, including 12-of-13 free throws and 15 rebounds.
Josh Dozier (Kennedy, Richmond): Added 35 pts, 10 rebounds and seven assists to Kennedy's 112-41 win over Swett of Crockett.
Eric Durso (Grace Brethren, Simi Valley): Canned 41pts and had 11 rebounds in 77-46 victory over Whittier Christian of La Habra.
Steven Eghbali (Tarbut V'Torah, Irvine): Contributed 33 pts in a 76-41 victory over Southlands Christian of Walnut.
Brad Jennings (Big Bear, Big Bear Lake): Was big for Big Bear, pumping in 32 pts in a 68-53 win over Beaumont.
Terrance Joyner (Bell Gardens): The freshman scored 37 pts, including seven in overtime but even that wasn't enough as Alhambra prevailed 75-71.
Wayne Kotrola (Bakersfield Christian): Wayne's world was scoring baskets in a 78-42 victory over Laton as he racked up 40 pts.
Rodney Lampkin (Patton Academy, Oakland): Had another 42-pt game, this time with 11 rebounds and 11 assists for a triple double, in a 68-60 triumph over West Bay of San Leandro.
Michael Moreno (Wilson, Hacienda Heights): His 32 pts and 11 rebounds led the Wildcats past Bonita of La Verne 63-59.
DeMarcus Nelson (Vallejo): The latest from DeMarcus was 39 pts and 11 rebounds in a 101-47 victory over Vintage of Napa.
Kurt Oliver (Rim of the World, Lake Arrowhead): Rimmed a school record 51 pts while making 13 of 20 three-point shots including seven consecutively (two short of reported state record). As a sidelight, Rim won the game, 99-75, over Kaiser of Fontana.
Anthony Palmer (San Diego): In a 109-51 blasting of Patrick Henry, Palmer pumped in 37 pts. Teammate Brandon Glenn had 31 pts and brought down 17 rebounds.
Daniel Pastran (Sierra, Manteca): Led the Timberwolves with 30 points in a 56-55 win over Manteca. Four of his points came during the last three seconds of the game.
Henry Patterson (Oxnard): As Oxnard won its 35th consecutive Pacific View League game, 61-58 over Camarillo, Patterson combined for 34 pts and 16 rebounds.
Devin Peal (Kennedy, Richmond): Came through with another 40-pt game, this time for 43 in a 112-41 rout of Swett of Crockett, while also recording 13 rebounds and seven assists.
Leon Powe (Technical, Oakland): Had 32 pts and 15 rebounds in a 77-60 win over Fremont of Oakland following a 27-pt, 13-rebound, four-steal performance in a 71-55 win over Skyline of Oakland.
Ray Reed (Inglewood): Paced his team over Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates 68-51 with 33 pts.
Aaron Richman (Santa Ynez): Scored half his team's points in a 79-70 loss to Morro Bay. For those who are mathmatically impaired, that's 35 pts.
Matt Salyer (Mills, Millbrae): Salyer was salivating from all the open looks he was getting in the Vikings' 82-61 triumph over Menlo-Atherton. He finished with 38 pts, including five from 3-pt land.
William Sheufelt (Oakmont, Roseville): Racked up 33 pts in a 65-54 win over Lincoln following a 31-pt performance in a 60-54 loss to Marysville. His previous game the week before was for 30.
Drew Simpkins (Rancho Cotate, Rohnert Park): Made 13 of 19 field goal attempts and had 11 rebounds while scoring 30 pts as the Cougars rolled past Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa 72-59.
Steve Smith (Taft, Woodland Hills): Football standout, after a late start for basketball, dropped in 33 pts and caught 13 rebounds in a 80-71 win over El Camino Real of Woodland Hills.
Walter Thompson (Venice): Whipped in 32 pts while making 7-of-10 three-point shots as Hamilton of Los Angeles fell to the Gondoliers, 78-67.
Shawn Weinstein (Peninsula, Rolling Hills Estates): Scored 36 pts in a 66-59 loss to Centennial of Compton and sank seven three-pointers in a 29-pt. effort as the Panthers also lost to Inglewood 68-51.
Tre'von Willis (Washington, Easton): Coach Von Webb had one of the top freshmen in the state two years ago in Dwight O'Neill and he's got one of the best this year in Willis. Tre'von led the way with 30 pts last week for the Panthers in a 82-50 triumph over Buchanan of Clovis.
Medina Britt (Dorsey, Los Angeles): Netted 34 pts, including a winning layup with two seconds left, as the Lady Dons got by Jefferson of Los Angeles 61-60.
Jeanine Deno (Crescenta Valley, La Crescenta): Tallied 36 pts, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals as the Falcons got by Pasadena 66-61.
Lauren Ervin (Inglewood): Paced Inglewood to a 58-50 win over Leuzinger of Lawndale with 24 rebounds and 26 pts.
Tina Flores (Jefferson, Los Angeles): Tanked 34 pts and had 11 assists in 61-60 loss to Dorsey of Los Angeles.
Amanda Foster (Marshall, Los Angeles): Scored 30 pts and hauled in 14 rebounds as Marshall nearly doubled Belmont of Los Angeles' point total, 69-35.
Kristy Foster (Del Campo, Fair Oaks): Hit for 30 pts as the Cougars got by Casa Roble of Orangevale 64-54.
Sonia Hilson (Fairmont Prep, Anaheim): Poured in 36 pts, including five from 3-pt land, and bagged 14 rebounds in leading the Huskies past South Bay Lutheran of Inglewood 64-36.
Charde Houston (San Diego): It was a monster week for the 6-2 junior standout. She had 29 pts, including several big buckets down the stretch, in a 69-68 win over Kearny that matched up two of the top teams in the section. Houston then had 51 pts, 14 rebounds and six assists in a 119-44 romp vs. Henry and finished up with 38 pts in a 77-55 win over Parker.
Markisha Lea (King, Riverside): Following in the footsteps of last season's state championship performance by Marvin Lea, Markisha had 33 pts and 18 rebounds in a 59-36 victory over Bloomington.
Monica Mertle (Ursuline, Santa Rosa): Came up big against Berkeley with 30 pts and 18 rebounds in leading team to a significant 51-47 win.
Danielle Orsillo (Las Plumas, Oroville): One of the top sophs in Northern California, Danielle was dominant with 39 pts, seven steals, nine rebounds and six assists in a win last week vs. Lassen of Susanville. Orsillo is averaging 25 ppg.
Dionysia Pass (Forshay, Los Angeles): Passed for seven assists and grabbed five steals and 16 rebounds while scoring 30 pts in a 64-45 victory over Downtown Magnet of Los Angeles.
Breanna Perry (Buchanan, Clovis): Knocked down 31 pts in a 52-50 loss to Corcoran, which was good enough to break the school record of 30 set last year by Ashley Connell.
Shir Raanan (Oak Park, Agoura Hills): Keyed Oak Park's 52-42 win over St. Bonaventure of Ventura with 31 pts.
Rondalina Robinson (University, Los Angeles): Paced University over Los Angeles, 55-47, with 36 pts and 16 rebounds.
Judith Smith (Poly, Long Beach): Dropped in 32 pts and hauled in seven rebounds in a big 60-45 win over crosstown Wilson.
Ashlee Trebilcock (Hart, Newhall): Paced team to a 75-62 win over Burroughs of Burbank with a 30-pt effort.
Brittany Throckmorton (Pacific Christian, Los Angeles): As Pacific Chistian flooded Summit View, 70-6, Brittany ruled the waves with 32 pts, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Adriana Tovalin (Fremont, Los Angeles): Scored 35 pts in a 67-21 romp over Manual Arts of Los Angeles.
Ashley Trotter (San Dimas): In a 52-40 win over Buena Park, Ashley had 31 pts, 11 rebounds and six assists and also had 31 in a 55-47 win over Pomona. Against Pomona, the junior also had 14 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Candice Wiggins (La Jolla Country Day): The junior guard "only" scored 22 in the Torres' two-point win over Marin Catholic, but earlier in the week found the range for 38 and 34 pts in easy wins vs. Santa Fe Christian and Horizon.
Christina Zdenek (Chaminade, West Hills): Totaled 30 pts, six assists and six steals in a 63-37 win over Louisville of Woodland Hills.
